With this batch of buses having been officially unveiled at Ashington Leisure Centre by local MP Ian Lavery on July 21st 2017, this vehicle has now entered service at Ashington Depot.

Acting as the spare vehicle for services X21/X22 (Newbiggin - Ashington - Newcastle); this vehicle has received "Sapphire" branding, with "Arriva connecting Newcastle" sub-branding. This batch of vehicles is the first in the region to receive the new "Sapphire" branding, which is currently being rolled out across the Arriva UK Group.
