Following use on the special Sunderland Airshow Park & Ride services, this vehicle has transferred from Deptford Depot to Riverside. Nexus is to embark on a second programme of Metro track replacement on its lines in North Tyneside, which will involve a 15-day Major Line Closure between Benton and Monkseaton from Saturday 23rd July 2016 to Saturday 6th August 2016. Whilst the line is closed, a frequent replacement bus service, numbered 900, will operate from Four Lane Ends through the affected area, calling at all Metro stations on the route. Go North East has been awarded with the contract, which will operate from Riverside Depot. To allow double-deck vehicles ordinarily allocated to Nexus Miscellaneous Works to be allocated to this Metro Replacement bus service, Riverside has received this vehicle and retained others which were scheduled to be withdrawn.

Following the completion of DDA / PSVAR modifications on all vehicles, the three DDA float/reserve vehicles (4896, 4897 and 4898) have been absorbed into the main service fleet at Riverside. To reduce the fleet strength towards a lower spare vehicle percentage in the North Division, these three Volvo B10BLEs being absorbed into the main fleet at Riverside has released three further Volvo B10BLEs (4903, 4906 and 4907) to Deptford Depot, allowing the withdrawal of younger (albeit less reliable), more expensive to maintain, Wright Cadet bodied DAF SB120s from the fleet.

To replace the temporary branding for services 40, 43, 43A, 43B and 44 (vehicles wearing standard fleet livery with Stanley Shuttle vinyls applied), Go North East is to introduce new "The Diamond" branding in line with the simplification of the services which operate between Durham and Newcastle, via Stanley. This vehicle has now received The Diamond" branding, with sub-branding for the 43/44 services. Early expansion of the Go-Ahead Northern empire saw the acquisition of certain smaller competing bus operators in North East England, during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Northern acquired JH Hammell (Diamond) on 30th December 1994, which this brand refers to.
