Vehicle History

May 2019 Go North East In line with service changes and the introduction of new brand identities, there were a large number of vehicle re-allocations which took place on Sunday 19 May, the significance of which have been likened to the South Shields and Bishop Auckland depot closures in 2005 and 2006 respectively. This vehicle has transferred from Percy Main Depot to Peterlee, providing the depot with two dedicated spare vehicles of the same specification once again.
January 2019 Go North East Photograph by As this vehicle's transfer to Percy Main Depot was not intended to be permanent, it retained the East Durham variant of its "indiGo" branding. As the vehicle is now confirmed to be a permanent fixture at Percy Main, it has now received the North Tyneside variant of "indiGo" branding.
March 2018 Go North East With three of the boards on "Wear Xpress" services X6/X7 being temporarily converted to Scania L94UB/Wright Solar operation, the displaced "Wear Xpress" branded Optare Solo SR M890 vehicles are being allocated to other services. One of these vehicles is being allocated to scholars service 452 (Houghton School - St. Michael's RC Primary School) and workers' service 968 (Easington Lane - Waterview Park), in order to allow Optare Solo M880/Optare 705 (YJ10 MFN) to act as the spare vehicle for the "indiGo East Durham" services at Peterlee. As a result; this vehicle has been released for cascade to Percy Main, where it will act as a spare vehicle for the "indiGo North Tyne" minibus services, pending the availability of another Optare Solo to do this, once new minibuses are delivered.
September 2015 Go North East This vehicle has been fitted with free customer Wi-Fi.
August 2015 Go North East Photograph by Armed with a pair of scissors and dressed in his very own bus driver uniform; 11-year-old schoolboy Peter Witham landed his dream job thanks to a heart-felt letter to Go North East's Managing Director, and cut the ribbon at a publicity launch at Crimdon Dene to declare the 14 brand new indiGo buses officially open for business. Following the publicity launch, this vehicle entered service at Peterlee Depot.
July 2015 Go North East Prior to entering service, this vehicle has received "indiGo" branding for the local network of services operating out of Peterlee Depot.
July 2015 Go North East This vehicle, which carries a plain pink base livery, has arrived into the Go North East fleet. It is currently being prepared for service at Saltmeadows Road Depot. Representing an investment of approximately £1,800,000, Go North East has ordered fourteen Optare Solo SR minibuses to be launched on the "East Durham" network of services at Peterlee Depot. The services will be re-branded as "indiGo", promoting connections to Durham, Sunderland, Newcastle, Middlesbrough and beyond. These brand new buses feature Esteban Civic V3 seating complete with e-leather; two-colour Tarabus 'Wood Effect' flooring; and blue accent lighting, which is fitted underneath seats, to provide extra light on the gangway. They are also fitted with free passenger Wi-Fi and Next Stop Announcements.
