Vehicle History

December 2020 Go North East Previously branded as "Quaylink", this vehicle has now been repainted into Go North East's 2019 fleet livery.
November 2020 Go North East Following the entry into service of Optare Versa V1110/Optare 8310 (NK10 GNY) and 8311 (NK10 GNZ) after repaint, this vehicle has been taken out of service to be repainted at Read Commercials, Accrington. "QuayLink" was conceived as a frequent, high quality bus service, for the newly developed and expanding Quayside area. Despite being located a short distance from the town centres of Newcastle and Gateshead, the area was poorly served by public transport. Now in its fifteenth year, albeit on a revised route compared to when it first launch, service Q3 is to be re-branded from "QuayLink" to "Quaycity", acknowledging the growing focus of the route changing from the Newcastle Quayside, to the City Centre itself, with an expanding hospitality sector in the city.
June 2020 Go North East Photograph by From Monday 1 June 2020, in line with guidance from the government, Go North East's bus services will start returning to what can be considered a 'normal' level of service on weekdays (albeit still reduced on weekends), also with some minor changes which had originally been planned to take place from 17 May 2020. As such, this vehicle has now been reinstated at Riverside.
April 2020 Go North East Following completion of all required vehicle re-allocations; this vehicle has been temporarily withdrawn from service due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and has been officially delicensed (SORN'd), enabling Go North East to obtain a tax refund.

November 2015 Go North East A minor re-branding scheme has taken place on the vehicles which carry the green variation of Go North East's "Quaylink" branding for service Q3, which sees further Great Park related vinyls being added to each vehicle.
July 2015 Go North East Photograph by This vehicle has received "Quaylink" branding. It carries the green variation of Go North East's "Quaylink" branding for service Q3.
June 2015 Go North East Photograph by This vehicle has been repainted into a plain yellow base livery. Following funding withdrawals from Newcastle City Council and Gateshead Council, the future of the "QuayLink" services (which Go North East operates under contract to Nexus) was unknown. It was announced earlier this year that Go North East has stepped in to save the "QuayLink", and, from 26th July 2015, will operate the services commercially. The services will be revised to expand upon Go North East's current network of services. The current "QuayLink" Q1 service from Newcastle Central Station to Gateshead will merge with "The Orbit" branded 51/52 services, and will be re-numbered Q1/Q2. The current "QuayLink" Q2 service from Newcastle Haymarket Bus Station to St Peter's Basin will be merged with "Great Park & Ride" service X40, and will be re-numbered Q3. As such, all of the "QuayLink" and "The Orbit" branded vehicles will be repainted with a fresh coat of yellow and the branding will be revised accordingly. The two former Deptford-based "SimpliCity" branded Optare Versas will also be repainted as part of this scheme and the rise in the combined PVR of the current "The Orbit" and "QuayLink" branded services.
February 2015 Go North East All of Saltmeadows Road's operations have transferred to Riverside Depot, which has resulted in the transfer of this vehicle from Saltmeadows Road Depot to Riverside. It is not yet known what the future will hold for Saltmeadows Road Depot, but maintenance and repairs, repaints and re-trims, and the storage of new vehicles, is still expected to be held at Saltmeadows Road Depot for the foreseeable future.
August 2010 Go North East Photograph by This vehicle has entered service at Saltmeadows Road Depot. The Dennis Dart/Caetano vehicles that were operating this service on a temporary basis have been returned to the hirer.
August 2010 Go North East Ahead of its entry into service, this vehicle has received "QuayLink" branding, with sub-branding for services Q1/Q2.
July 2010 Go North East Photograph by This vehicle, which carries a plain yellow base livery, has arrived into the Go North East fleet, and is currently being prepared for service at Saltmeadows Road Depot. This vehicle has an engine which is to the state of the art Euro V EEV (Enhanced Environmental Vehicle) specification, and is to be deployed on the recently awarded "QuayLink" contract (which was previously operated by Stagecoach North East with Designline Olymbus diesel-electric hybrid vehicles manufactured in New Zealand). The operation of "QuayLink" services Q1/Q2 transferred to Go North East on 18th July 2010, and has seen a temporary allocation of Dennis Dart SLF/Caetano Nimbus vehicles, numbered 9152 - 9161, pending delivery of the new Optare Versas.
