Speculation and rumour - Michael - 19 May 2013

Im looking at the new 39 timetable and its a tad confusing without more info being posted about the changes. Can some help, some parts of the route is every 20, some is every 10 and some is every 6/7 mins.

it should be 2 diffrent numbers... Pennywell to Doxford - Every 20 mins - the 39

Doxford to Park lane only - 39A

GNE need to post more info on the other changes which is happening on the 2nd June.

RE: Go North East - CatsFast101 - 19 May 2013

On which part of the route is it going every 6/7 minutes? I can't find that anywhere?
And I think it is confusing having an every 10 minute frequency between Interchange and Doxford International, but I suppose it's similar to the 21 really. The only confusion to me is the fact that passengers will have to time their departures from the city centre as every 20 minutes buses leave from Vine Place or Fawcett Street with every 20 minutes buses leaving from Holmeside or Interchange, defeating the object of having an every 10 minute service really as the idea is you 'Turn up and Go' so to speak.
Personally I think it would of been better to either:-
> Extend the 38 to Doxford International after Tunstall Bank Estate, as I really fail to see why the Stockton Road (Ryhope-Interchange need any more buses, there's loads), having a wholly 20 minute service across the route.
> Increase the frequency across the whole section for the route to every 15 or 10 Minutes.

EDIT: Also it's going to be difficult in terms of branded buses with this been Monday-Friday only. They'll either need more branded buses or use East Durham, plain yellow or ex-Washington Street Shuttle MPD's- which means branding becomes irregular something which seems quite lapse at the minute. To my calculations the PVR of the short workings is three.

RE: Go North East - Michael - 19 May 2013

Sorry that's the interchange arrivals from Doxford Park.. Looked at wrong part of the timetable

I agree it would of being easier to make the route every 15 mins, i hate the current layout of the timetable.

But ill say it again, GNE need to post a seperate section for the other service changes, like the 39,61 etc because i wouldn't of known it was dropping to half hourly on a Saturday, if no1 had noticed it on here.

Edit: I also wondered what they could use, when was the Sreetlites due?

I wonder where the spare Simplicity buses will go from Simplicity 36.. We know the Streetshuttle is getting the Drifter and Saltwell park versa's.

I hope they move to the 26,36A/36C

5156 is still unbranded and is seen here on the Cobalt Connect - Note, In the Hour and Half I was in North Shields I didn't see one Cobalt Connect Omnicity.

9133 was on the 58, I am glad this has finally moved onto another service, hopefully we'll see it on a few others before it departs GNE, That's if it ever does. Think GNE might be going for the Longest DemoBus Test.

Literally like 5 seconds after I took the photo of 9133 on the 58, 9132 pulled in going to Newcastle, so I done an Olympic Style Sprint to catch a ride on it. TBH I wasn't a fan of the Interior Design, especially the seats behind the driver's cab, which is where I sat as it was very busy, My other thought was that I was on a Optare Versa or a E200 Dart, I didn't feel like I was on a Wright Streetlite at all which is rather weird.

And Finally Washington Depot have received 6 Driver Swap Vans which are Fleet Numbered 1010-1016 and are in a Northern Red Base Livery with the Go NorthEast Logo towards the Rear. This has resulted in the Vans that were on hire being returned to Enterprise Van Hire at Blaydon.

Hi,
Versa demo 9133 made its way onto Orbit 51/52 last night. Past my house a couple of times.

RE: Go North East - nk55 - 19 May 2013

Dont know how many spare versas will be available after the simplicity changes but i believe the ok way 18 is getting 2 bigger buses.

RE: Go North East - CatsFast101 - 19 May 2013

The 36/36A after a quick look at the timetable appears to need 4 buses. But I think I'm right in suggesting that the current 36 has PVR of 6, leaving 2 spare. However, 1 has already been debranded so another one could go the same fete. Also what vehicles will the X36 use? But this still doesn't solve the problem of the 39.

RE: Odd Allocations - MurdnunoC - 19 May 2013

Whilst I was driving past Winlaton depot today, I noticed that a Red Arrows branded double-decker was parked up in the yard. Don't know if it's been reported or is of any interest to anyone.

It looks likely the X36 will be B10BLEs, given it looks like interworking with the short X3 trips. As for the 36/36A, PVR of 4 could suggest Northern SPDs. The current 36 is actually now PVR 5 since the reducion to every 12 minutes.

As for the 39, if you look at the timetable, the 1406 1506 and 1606 runs from Park Lane and the 1440 and 1540 from Doxford Park only run during the school holidays which suggests these extra runs will be operated by school vehicles.

Could of been as a Staff Shuttle, if buses have been exchanged between Winlaton and Washington - Which would be something Northern Branded - Renowns/Vykings and Presidents.

or Alternatively on loan for the day or for repair, other no idea

RE: Go North East - Kuyoyo - 19 May 2013

(18 May 2013, 8:42 am)Daniel Assuming National Express work in a similar way to Megabus, does anyone know which boards/services are operated by vehicles within Go North East's fleet?

I know Mon-Fri, there are two done by GNE, departing Park Lane at approximately 10.40AM and 1.30PM (assuming the ones I've taken in Sunderland weren't delayed at the time of photographing them in December 2012). Not sure if times have been changed or anything like that though? Would appreciate any help.

Arrival times at Newcastle or Sunderland would be preferable! Smile

Go North East work the following National Express services:

332 to Swindon, departing Newcastle at 1030
380 to Bradford, departing Newcastle at 0730 (to Leeds only) and 1200 (to Bradford) plus a Friday-only departure to Leeds at 1730
530 to Paington, departing Newcastle at 0830
531 to Plymouth, departing Newcastle at 0630
580 to Liverpool, departing Newcastle at 0700 and 1000
663 to Butlins Skegness (summer only), departin Newcastle at 0735

380 and 580 use two coaches daily, while the other 3 uses 2 coaches on a two day working. The 663 uses 1 coach.

RE: Go North East - nk55 - 20 May 2013

Go North East also do the 326 to luton, used to be Classic Coaches run. Dont know the times.

RE: Go North East - Dan - 20 May 2013

Thanks Tony. Scott told me the services/vehicle numbers on Facebook, but was busy so didn't get to check the timings.
It seems you beat him to getting to the timetables and such though, to announce it on here for everyone to see, so well done! Wink

No problem, there are things I can get checked before Scott can, like National Express times.

RE: Go North East - CatsFast101 - 20 May 2013

Just a thought, as we seem to have a confirmation that the 36/36A will be Northern (new timetable) Deptford will have 6 spare Versa's? They have 11 in total and correct me if I'm wrong 5 of those are for the 42, leaving 6 for the 36 as was mentioned earlier there is one spare at the minute due to the frequency drop on the 35 that I completed forgot about. But I'm wondering if 5 of the Versas could go to service 61? It would then explain why one is now red as the 61's PVR is now 5, this would then displace the cadets on 61 which could go northern or to the 39. It ages now since the 61 had any new buses.
