RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - Kuyoyo - 24 Jul 2015

(24 Jul 2015, 5:36 pm)R852 PRG I'd have thought so, given that the number of Tridents at Stanley has decreased. I would have hoped for some Olympians too, because Stagecoach said in a tweet that all of their shuttles were to be operated by double deckers. I initially thought that they could put some of the R-reg Alexander-bodied examples out on their shuttles, but seeing as they have quite a few E400s and possibly the Tridents from Stockton; that might not be so, there could be a contractual requirement that specifies low-floor vehicles.

Not 100% certain but I think the 510 (Stagecoach's shuttle) is a commercial operation. So, I would expect the operation to be made up of mainly E400s and 17025-9/32.

(24 Jul 2015, 4:15 pm)aureolin Burning clutch smell on-board 5404. Doesn't help that it's been put round two roundabouts now, so fast that it's screeching.

Clutch?

From the main transmission?

(24 Jul 2015, 5:19 pm)Michael Does that include the Omnideckers? Tongue

Only 2 will be available tomrrow. Stanley have plently of Lolynes and Presidents. (Well, 5 of each). All 10 can be used on Sunday though (although i imagine that these won't be sent down?)

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - Dan - 24 Jul 2015

(24 Jul 2015, 5:09 pm)Dan A large number of double-deck vehicles from Riverside, Chester-le-Street, Stanley and Percy Main are on loan to Deptford at present and should return on Sunday night after the Airshow is finished.

In the past I think Deptford has primarily operated the A1 service with its own fleet of vehicles, but I think this year we will see a bit more variety on this service...

This is by no means all of the vehicles in use but I can confirm the following are all at Deptford (or now out on Airshow shuttles):

Riverside's 3966, 3967, 3970, 3971, 3972, 3973, 3974, 3975.
Chester-le-Street's 6024
Washington's 6017 and 6028

"Burning clutch smell". i.e. a smell similar to that of a burning clutch.

Washington's 6017 and 6028

Certainly confirms why I saw a Vyking with the 'A2' destination entering Gateshead Interchange then... Smile

I think that might explain why I saw 3 vykings on the A1 earlier

I understand (and I might have thought the same), however the Voith transmission is, I believe, a 'fully automatic' unit with the clutches running immersed in oil (though I could be wrong - I am not familiar with current Voith gearboxes - I am long retired).
The brakes are discs - so could one of them be 'binding'?

I don't know how the micro-hybrid devices are connected (ie whether there are clutches or whether they are belt-driven).

Slipping drive-belts usually smell different than 'clutches', but they do squeal.

(22 Jul 2015, 5:29 pm)Malarkey As has 5310 (NK08 MXY), pretty pointless with this example as it will likely be repainted in the coming months anyway.

I was there too when the Vyking pulled in, I was on the 95/96/X30/X31/X70/X71 stand.

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - July 2015 - R852 PRG - 24 Jul 2015

I notice that 657 has already become victim to a bomber from Stanley, I see there are a few spots of bird faeces on the front window; https://www.flickr.com/photos/127739730@N02/19783518290/in/dateposted-public/

Supposed to be good luck at the end of the day. Tongue

I'm assuming 9109 (YY64 GWX) has been collected by Alexander Dennis by now or are they instead leaving it until tomorrow morning?

They are suppose to be collecting it on Monday from Saltmeadows.  It has got to go to Chester over the weekend to be cleaned, ETM base removed etc

Don't get too carried away thinking there's a legitimate timetable...  Tongue

You can be stuck next to Seaburn Metro for 19 minutes owing to the traffic, never mind getting any where further than that!
