(02 Nov 2018, 9:37 pm)RobinHood The obvious flaw with your suggestion is the requirement for additional vehicles to do it. I dont think Arriva intend to use any more than the 9 buses on Service 5/5A now.

Also, the 5/5A performs the local function around Cargo Fleet/Cranmore Road, so a full express is very unlikely, unless there are two hourly variations beyond Guisborough (one via Skelton ASDA and one via both Skinningrove and Liverton Mines). Both of these would increase the end to end time.

Not sure what else they could do within the existing PVR.

That works if they curtail the 5A to Guisborough as it will save 30 minutes per trip. The problem is if it saves 30 minutes that's a bus in the PVR and if they can save a bus they will.

Ive emailed Arriva with my thoughts and I know they are still considering what to do with the 5 and 5A, but the 'problem' part of the routes are definitely between Swans Corner and Middlesbrough bus station.  At the other end it could be argued that Easington doesnt need as many  buses as it currently gets, but they need to turn round somewhere.  Theres also variations such as Liverton Mines and Skinningrove to take into account, and a growing demand for a bus to Skelton Asda from East Cleveland. 

Its tough balancing all these demands with trying to get to and from Middlesbrough in a reasonable amount of time.

I've a feeling it will expand in to the industrial area behind before long. 

However, there is limited public transport and as you say, a growing demand from south of Skelton. 
I wonder if the retail park owners push for or encourage anything?

I wonder if the bus saved on the 5/5a could be dropped in to an extended X3A?

(14 Nov 2018, 3:57 pm)S830OFT I think the X5 should be brought back, but keeping the X4 in the process. So between Loftus and Redcar it's Every 30 minutes combined as service X4 would get reduced. Then make the service between Saltburn and Middlesbrough every 20 minutes with all 3 services operating hourly, but combining to form the Every 20 minutes frequency.

The 6 will continue to serve Church Street and South Road, but there'll not be a bus observing the Palatine Centre (Science Site) anymore on outbound trips.
