My experience of the Solars pre-2005 is that the seats feel like rocks, this is from my experience on the 97.

(13 Jan 2016, 8:16 pm)Jamie M Just curious, are any of the gonortheast buses actually limited to any speed?
Yes. Don't quote me on it, but I believe they're limited to 55mph?

It looks like 5293 had broke down on Sheriff Hill, it's sat there N.I.S with it's hazards on.

Must say Go North East have done a cracking job with these updates today. There seemed to be updates around every 15-20 minutes - very well done to all involved (and not forgetting the drivers, who went above and beyond as always!)

They always do try there best especially in this weather but I once praised them when we had the big storm aka Thunder Thursday years ago they used anything anywhere and used any vehicles they could eg a bendy bus on 27 (Scania) and all sorts on any routes that's how bad it was for buses in them days even the loop branded vehicles which were getting branded at the time were delayed

Excellent job as always from GNE I must say, I spent 2 Hours and 20 Minutes on the X1 from Washington Galleries to Gateshead, took over an hour to get from one side of Springwell Village to the other due to traffic being gridlocked, then get stuck again coming up to Wrekenton and then along to the Q.E. Hospital, obviously my Driver must of worked well past his Break to get back to Washington unless he had one in Newcastle before making a very late return journey.

Unfortunately I did make it to work today, after a few phone calls to them I made the decision to head back home as I didnt know what the Arriva X7/X8 and SNE X63 were going to be running like, nor did I know what the traffic was like going into Newcastle City Centre, then coming back out of town and up to Longbenton, literally had no signal at all to be able view the Weather Updates as it was up and down like a yo-yo, the joys of being with EE.

Think there is meant to be more white stuff tomorrow also, in which case I am instead going to get the Metro to Work.

Think the weather is supposed to be alright tomorrow, or at least I hope it is, I was planning on heading to Hexham tomorrow (via Consett). Think snow is forecast for Saturday though.

does any one know what is going to happen to 8150 ,8251 8253 8254 8259 are they being scrapped?

I believe 8250 and 8251 are, or were, being used for engineering training purposes. 8254 was dismantled for spare parts while at Washington, so I'd guess that these three will (eventually) be sold for scrap.

I believe 8253, 8259 and 8260 (when it's withdrawn again) will all be sold on as runners, presumably to Ensign.
