RE: Trains - NK53 TKT - 02 Jun 2016 (02 Jun 2016, 11:51 am)8222 I think cases and the Victoria line would be a nightmare I should imagine. Even on my frequent hops on the Piccadilly line to LHR, which is meant to have extra case room, there's not that much extra. The Thameslink trains are quite spacious and at that time, they won't be too bad from experience. The standard off-peak single fare looks to be about £10. I'm sure they do advance tickets for cheaper. I'll consider it RE: Trains - James101 - 02 Jun 2016 (02 Jun 2016, 10:32 am)NK53 TKT I have an odd question about rail fares: It depends what you class as value. Where I imagine the train will be marginally cheaper, personally I think a £15 premium for taking the car is worth it, particularly on the return journey. There's also the risk of flight delays scuppering the rail journey home. RE: Trains - NK53 TKT - 02 Jun 2016 (02 Jun 2016, 2:10 pm)James101 It depends what you class as value. Anything past 7pm landing would be cutting it fine to get a train home. The flight lands at 6.50am, thus I am not concerned RE: Trains - South Tyne Lad - 03 Jul 2016 The Flying Scotsman was in the North East yesterday, It was working 1Z48 Carlisle to Leicester. I photographed it at Chester-Le-Street, After my plan on Plawsworth was abandoned https://www.flickr.com/photos/140662069@N02/27979509691/in/dateposted-public/ Trains - TEN 6083 - 03 Jul 2016 I saw it as well yesterday when it passed through Prudhoe station, not the best photo as it was running at high speed as was using my iPhone, might try and get a better one with my digital camera when it comes back through next Sunday. It also includes a video which can be seen below, also. It's hard-hitting but it serves a purpose and I think this is a great move by Network Rail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aU7ixU0xu7s RE: Trains - 8222 - 27 Jul 2016 Using the tube a lot, I thought this was a joke. Apparently it's not... https://www.railnews.co.uk/news/2016/07/25-converted-underground-train-could-be.html RE: Trains - Andreos1 - 15 Sep 2016 Following discussion in the GNE latest thread, my mind went back to the DPTAC guidance of the early 90's (?), that saw early revisions to bus interiors. A quick google search of DPTAC, found this: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/list-of-rail-vehicles-built-or-refurbished-to-modern-accessibility-standards RE: Trains - northern156 - 16 Sep 2016 Nasty incident this morning down south. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-37382635 Two people were hurt when a train derailed near Watford Junction after torrential rain caused a landslide at the mouth of a tunnel. From RailUK: London Midland 06:19 train from Milton Keynes to Euston has hit an landslip and derailed on the approach to Watford Tunnel.Certainly had the potential to be a disaster - luckily it wasn't. RE: Trains - Andreos1 - 20 Oct 2016 http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/heroic-rail-worker-risks-life-9084822 Fake or not? RE: Trains - northern156 - 23 Oct 2016 (20 Oct 2016, 4:14 pm)Andreos1 http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/heroic-rail-worker-risks-life-9084822 Fake. The train has been super-imposed, one of the track workers seemingly appears from nowhere and the pantographs are down on the 319s, with no 3rd rail present too. RE: Trains - Andreos1 - 30 Nov 2016 This was a bit of a Brucey bonus when waiting for my train. Totally unexpected and I only had a phone with me.
