I think there's a line in the article that says the average age will basically half in 3 years time. RE: Trains - 8222 - 29 Dec 2016 Hi all, Just stumbled across this picture: http://www.railwayherald.co.uk/imagingcentre/view/457839/PL Am I right in thinking that that is a 3-car 156? The only Sprinter DMU's which had a fixed 3 car set were the two Class 150 prototypes ( 150001,150002 at GWR ) and the 3 car 158/7s , All bar one at Northern , The other is at GWR ( 158798 ) RE: Trains - Andreos1 - 31 Dec 2016 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-38470783 Incident on converted LU stock. RE: Trains - Andreos1 - 04 Jan 2017 Does anyone know about the two carriages that were being shifted today? Saw two lowloaders getting an escort and carrying a carriage each, heading east on the A689 earlier. They were covered in tarpaulins', so didn't get a proper look unfortunately. The power unit is being used for 407 which damaged its own a few weeks ago. I'd imagine 603 will be used as a donor for the time being. 37413 has been cut up at Rotherham. RE: Trains - Andreos1 - 30 Oct 2017 Fairly recently, I posted elsewhere on the forum and referred to consultations/customer panels. I'm a big fan of them and believe they can bring a lot - if the organisation involved, takes the time and effort required to make it a success. In the discussion, reference was made to several panels, the involvement (or lack of) of panel members and the sort of things they are involved in. I've just been made aware of the following article on Austrian railways. http://transportdesigned.com/railjet-beating-european-jetset-game/ They took their consultation to another level - way above any 'sampling' seen or discussed on this forum There are some interesting points in the link, but the link also refers to the lengths the organisation went to, in a bid to find out what their paying customers wanted. Spirit Design produced three different concepts for the livery, which were to be tested on 1:1 scale – no illustrations or models produced for board members here – three of Railjet’s Taurus locomotives were painted in each of the colour schemes. Two of the locos received an OBB red base colour, with grey/white and grey/red striping respectively and the final received a bordeaux-red base colour with grey/red striping. They were also duly named as Spirit of Salzburg, Spirit of Linz and Spirit of Vienna. OBB then asked Austrian tabloid ‘Kronen Zeitung’ to conduct a nationwide poll, via its website, to pick a winner. RE: Trains - Andreos1 - 12 Mar 2018 An interesting read following the 'beast from the east' a few weeks back. https://www.sundaypost.com/fp/ploughing-on-is-all-in-a-days-work-for-train-driver-who-had-the-inside-track-on-taming-the-beast-from-the-east/ RE: Trains - Andreos1 - 21 Jul 2020 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-53484392/views-from-new-north-yorkshire-to-cumbria-tourist-train At least we know where some of the MK3 coaches have ended up now!
