London Bus Operations - Dan - 05 Aug 2013

News, debate and discussion on London's Bus Operations.

As the NBFL has struck discussion in other parts of the forum, it seems appropriate to mention this one!
It appears that a NBFL was involved in a minor incident towards the end of last month.

RE: Metroline - Adrian - 05 Aug 2013

Ouch. The Metroline operated ones will be from one of the two batches delivered between April and June too.

Edit: can barely make out the reg plate, but from what I can see this is LT35.

RE: Metroline - Dan - 05 Aug 2013

You did a better job of making that reg out than I did. I gave up after one go! :p

RE: Metroline - Andreos1 - 05 Aug 2013

Is that James May looking sheepish in the background there? Wink

Apparently these (LT41 - LT65) are for service 11. They should be out and about by the last week in September. After that, the next services to get them are supposed to be London United's service 9, and Metroline's service 390.

I intend on trying to get some photographs of the 11 at the end of this month when I visit London. Easy enough to visit again at another time to get more photos of the NBFL on the 11, but I won't be able to take any photos of those B7s on there once the NBFL's are in use! :p

EDIT: I feel so much better now that I'm not chain quoting! Wink

RE: Go-Ahead London - Adrian - 11 Aug 2013

I'm down there for a couple of days towards the end of the last week in Sept. Going to try and do the same time permitting. Wouldn't mind a few photos out of the Metroline batch too. I often find it's just a case of finding somewhere to take pics in London without getting people angry. Big Grin

I've already been warned about that one! First visit as a bus enthusiast, so it'll be all new to me. Have been down a few times before though, so it's not like it's completely foreign to me! :p

You're usually alright if you're with a group - you get the odd few drivers who will verbally challenge you if you're by yourself. I find what works best for me is taking photos in between stops when the bus is in motion. Takes driver challenges out of the equation. Smile

I'm glad it takes driver challenges out of the equation in London... Certainly doesn't up here. Had some horrid experiences with drivers recently, with some stopping their vehicles at junctions to open their doors and question why I'm taking photos - demanding a reason and all. Guess it's a little harder to do that in London than it is in the rural setting of Kibblesworth or Lamesley though...

Yeah - lots of red routes in Central London so they can't stop at all. Even away from the red routes I've never seen or heard of it happening. The only time I got any grief was at a terminus point near the Royal Albert Hall, but one of my mates has had grief a couple of times at Euston Bus Station.

I can't say I've ever had it up here either. I do know someone that was refused boarding on an Arriva service though as he had taken a photo of the bus he was driving earlier in the day. Some people eh. Big Grin

RE: Go-Ahead London - Andreos1 - 11 Aug 2013

Not sure if this is down to naievity on my part with never having taken a photo of a buse, but if you positioned yourself by a landmark - then, happen to have a bus come into shot...

Yeah, that was another aim of mine too. Act as an innocent tourist, not as a 'bloody bus spotter' as I have been referred to once or twice... Rolleyes

Just following on from the Story above

and

LT62 is believed to of suffered either brake failing or stuck throttle or possibly something else which unknown until the Bus is examined , LT62 apparently narrowly missed a car then it went into the back of WHY4 pushing into a car and 9401 Abellio e400. Just a little bit of info I picked up off the Photo of LT62.

Very lucky indeed.

Not 100% sure and could be totally wrong, but looks like the Tesco artic has flipped and the coach has ploughed into it.

More in the Northern Echo that confirmed lorry flipped prior to coach hitting it
