RE: London Bus Operations - MetrolineGA1511 - 14 Aug 2021 (08 Aug 2021, 7:23 pm)IRHardy Yes there is a cascade of the SPs from the 111 to make VHs and ADHs available for the takeover of the 49 & X140 on 4th September as the electric buses won't be able to run on the routes from day one for various reasons. However with the timeliness of electric buses starting operating on routes when they should do, I can imagine that the LTs will transfer to Abellio for a few months until the electric buses are ready to be actually used?Yes, in the likely event that Abellio are late to be able to introduce their electric buses on route 111 they would borrow the LTs in the interim. TF depot already have LTs for route 267 so are familiar with them. As at March 2021, the fleet consisted of 1,532 buses, making it the third largest London Buses operator. Take it the buses on the routes getting withdrawn will be moved elsewhere to replace older buses in London?......... The North East will probable's end up with some no doubt. RE: London Bus Operations - Andreos1 - 02 Jun 2022 (02 Jun 2022, 6:28 am)citaro5284 I see some 16 bus routes are facing the axe in LondonQuite a high number of services. Reading between the lines, it definitely seems to be politically motivated. I'd even go as far as suggesting it being part of a strategy to ensure the next London Mayor ends up being a tory one. RE: London Bus Operations - Michael - 02 Jun 2022 (02 Jun 2022, 9:57 am)Andreos1 Quite a high number of services. Reading between the lines, it definitely seems to be politically motivated. Sure I read, because of the bail outs, for Transport for London would have to cut services... sure that was part of the deal? Unless I'm making that up. RE: London Bus Operations - Andreos1 - 02 Jun 2022 (02 Jun 2022, 10:16 am)Michael Sure I read, because of the bail outs, for Transport for London would have to cut services... sure that was part of the deal?Yeah, apparently the stories are true and in order to get funding, they've got to make cuts. Similar to when Nexus were told to contract the metro ops out. Apparently it was the only way they would be eligible for funding. RE: London Bus Operations - Michael - 02 Jun 2022 (02 Jun 2022, 10:51 am)Andreos1 Yeah, apparently the stories are true and in order to get funding, they've got to make cuts. I'm sure London could survive with a few cuts... its not like they have many services which overlap anyway. RE: London Bus Operations - busmanT - 02 Jun 2022 (02 Jun 2022, 9:57 am)Andreos1 Quite a high number of services. Reading between the lines, it definitely seems to be politically motivated. Not really any worse than most places outside London - although London unusually has a large number of overlapping high frequency routes. GNE mostly cut those out up here already, or already reduced them (e.g. 56 from 10 to 12 to 15 mins).. |
