RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Dan - 09 May 2014 The cost of this project to refurbish stations and all that malarkey has changed in price about three times now, I'm sure... What happened to the £385m figure? RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Adrian - 09 May 2014 (09 May 2014, 9:16 pm)Dan The cost of this project to refurbish stations and all that malarkey has changed in price about three times now, I'm sure... What happened to the £385m figure? I know. The Government granted Nexus £350m, and the original projection was £385m-£389m. I'd put the £500m more so down to sloppy journalism, as it wasn't part of a quoted source. Perhaps a better idea would be to give the local bus companies a bell and ask them to help out? It would cost them some money, but if your customers are truly the priority - especially on a night when a hell of a lot more are expected to be travelling on public transport... Re: RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Adrian - 21 May 2014 (20 May 2014, 5:44 pm)Dan “Should the industrial action go ahead, we are confident that we will still be able to operate a reduced Metro service on the day of the strike and will prioritise moving concert-goers to and from Sunderland, as well as recognising the needs of our regular customers. More info here - http://www.rmt.org.uk/news/rmt-calls-industrial-action-db-regio-tyne-and-wear-metro/ I'd hope no bus drivers would take up the overtime to cover strikers. Secondary action is of course illegal, but there's more often than not, no obligation for compulsory overtime. If customers are the priority then DB should make a proper effort to resolve the dispute instead. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Tom - 21 May 2014 This is a first! ''Minor delays system wide due to an earlier fire alarm at Haymarket Station'' RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - DanPicken - 22 May 2014 (21 May 2014, 7:59 pm)Tom This is a first! its not it happen quite a few times before Re: RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - MrFozz - 22 May 2014 (21 May 2014, 5:56 am)aureolin More info here - http://www.rmt.org.uk/news/rmt-calls-industrial-action-db-regio-tyne-and-wear-metro/ Did Metro go on strike a few years ago when there was a big concert at Sunderland...possiby when Coldplay played there RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Dan - 22 May 2014 (22 May 2014, 7:32 am)marxistafozzski Did Metro go on strike a few years ago when there was a big concert at Sunderland...possiby when Coldplay played there I certainly re-call another similar incident, with the same quote being used as now: "It wasn't our intention to strike on the same day as a major concert - this was just the earliest we could strike". Re: RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - MrFozz - 22 May 2014 (22 May 2014, 7:45 am)Dan I certainly re-call another similar incident, with the same quote being used as now: "It wasn't our intention to strike on the same day as a major concert - this was just the earliest we could strike". More like "fuck you, we will try to cause maximum disruption" that is there intention, if so, why not strike on Wednesday, of course we know the answer to that, Striking during a major event is going to get headlines, I am all for the right to strike and all for trade unions, they do do good, they have my family members in the past RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Dan - 22 May 2014 Something has happened again... Go North East 29 mins · We are currently accepting Metro tickets between Newcastle Market Street and Walkergate. RE: Tyne and Wear Metro - Dan - 22 May 2014 Not sure if anything's been put on Metro's Twitter, but someone has just put this on Facebook: What the hell is going on with metro service. Not joking when I say there's about 200 of us stuck on the platform at Pelaw about 3 trains have pulled in and everyone's been told to get off cos there's a 'fault' with 3 of the trains. This is ridiculous. It's pointless otherwise. I'll be joining my local picket line on Wednesday to show support.
