(09 May 2015, 10:48 am)danpick There are no trains running between Jesmond and Monument in both directions until further notice. This is due to problem with the overhead line.
We are currently operating a bus replacement service, the number 900, calling at or near to all stations between Jesmond and Heworth.
We will update you once we have more information.

As we've already established, Greg in Weardale favours the Metro when he travels from Sunderland to Newcastle, since the withdrawal of Go North East's X3 service. I wonder if he'll opt for the 56 instead, when he realises that Tyne & Wear Metro are covering windows in contravision?!

emdjt42 also reports that 4033 has gained a similar advertisement, to promote Emirates.

(99)4001 is currently sat at SG in single formation.

(11 May 2015, 5:24 pm)Dan I was under the impression that four Metrocars would not be refurbished and would see use in the reserve fleet, for allocation when duplicate / extra trains are in operation. Two of the four were, of course, 4001 and 4002. Is there a reason for the earlier than planned withdrawal of 4040?

4002 is still out and about, as it was coupled to one of the unrefurbished Metrocars with a promotional ad. Has been my ride a number of times this last week or two, including this morning.

(11 May 2015, 6:21 pm)Tommy_1581 4001 is in a right state at SG, currently stabled in a siding. 4002 and 4040 are still coupled together and have been for a while now. If Metro have put adverts for Emerates on other Metrocars, I'd think that 4002 and 4040 will be withdrawn, along with 4001 and another Metrocar*.

There was another 2 non-refurbished Metrocars on the network last month, I haven't seen these two recently.

*This Metrocar may be at SG acting as a spare for the 4002--4040 set or the other set.


I haven't seen anymore oddities on the Metro today when I did Monument-Gateshead, Heworth-Kingston Park with my brother.

(11 May 2015, 10:55 pm)Bus_User I believe 4040/4083(both emirates units) are the ones along with the prototypes to not be refurbished, what will happen to these units seem unclear although I think 'withdrawn' in the true sence of the word is unlikely.

No idea if it is the same one, but there is a cab at the Stephenson Railway Museum.

I remember it being 'full size', with the one at the museum being cut down/smaller - but thought it worth sharing.
