Walked past the former BHS store tonight and signs are in window confirming Sports Direct are taking it over. Also to note the signs say USC are moving in there aswell.
Another 2 empty shops in the bridges.........
(11 Oct 2016, 7:37 pm)Tom wrote Not good then! Would have hoped for something better to boost that area. Hopefully something good will take the Sports direct store in the Bridges. USC is ok though.
Next have already took the Metrocentre one, will be their biggest ever store I think! Newcastle have nothing yet though.
(11 Oct 2016, 7:40 pm)Michael wrote Hopefully the sports direct store is took over quickly, its a big store so hopefully it is.
(11 Oct 2016, 7:44 pm)Tom wrote Yeah I'm just not sure what it could be? New Look seem to be expanding their stores so that would make sense with New Look Men opening in their current store as it is quite small isn't it?
(11 Oct 2016, 7:49 pm)Michael wrote I hope so, its all mainly women clothes shops in the city centre.
NEXT is building on the old Crowtree leisure centre site so rules them out........New Look should go from the area and they should move in the bridges.
The Lonsdale boxing can move else where too (which is above)
(11 Oct 2016, 7:52 pm)Tom wrote Ah Next is moving too, hopefully you can get a decent retailer in that store too. Would be good to have something that isn't the same old usual, like Urban Outfitters or something like that.
New Look would be my guess anyway for the Sports Direct in the bridges.

(11 Oct 2016, 8:25 pm)Jimmi wrote Imagine it will be the same set up as the Metrocentre Retail Park store where it's two in one. Hopefully there will be a fair bit of USC in this store then as the current USC store in the Bridges isn't that big.
It's not great that it will mean two empty units in the Bridges but at the same time it means there won't be a big empty shop on High Street West anymore, looks bad enough having all those empty units there.
Can't see Sunderland getting owt much different and exciting in terms of stuff like clothing retailers, was shocked they got Flannels. Went in there fairly recently, don't think I have ever felt more uncomfortable walking round a shop than in there as you've got security in suits around the shop and then there is the prices, jeez! Something like Urban Outfitters would be nice but can't see it ever happening.

Possible new development for Rainton Meadows Arena.
This involves construction of a new Aldi store.
The owners have been trying to redevelop that land for years without success. At one point a Travelodge was on the cards.
Edit: http://www.sunderlandecho.com/news/busin...-1-8182501 More on the plans.

Also wonder what store it will be in Newcastle? Kingston Park or something probably.
(14 Nov 2016, 11:00 pm)Michael wrote Ah right, i didn't know they had one, still far away for all those OAP's.
Also had a typo in that post so changed it
