Thank you. I guess it was introduced when the metrocentre opened. Old timetables are very interesting, please send me a copy if you can, it would be much appreciated.

if I am right the 100 started in 1987 not long after the Metrocentre opened. But there was also a 101 and 102 if I remember correctly. The 101/2 possibly 103 and 104 also got changed to at least the 54 and were operated by Blue Bus/Armstrong Galley and operated to the outskirts of Heddon on the Wall etc. So the 100 was part of the original batch of Metrocentee 1xx services
(05 Nov 2017, 8:28 am)cbma06 the minibuses were replaced by scanias in 1989, ive enclosed timetable for service 100 which also shows the other busways services which served metrocentre at the time.
There's a good piece on the history, and numbering, of the 100 in Peter Nash's excellent book "Push Once".
It was deliberately designed to stand out as a 3-digit number against the standard Newcastle busways backdrop of 2-digit services.
Passed a white Enviro300 (looked like the MANviro variety - presumably one of the ones which recently migrated north from Stockton) on the A1 around 15:20, not in service.
It was in an advertising livery of some kind - and I'm sure I saw "#benice" or "#behappy" (words to that effect), with yellow smiley faces on it.
Any ideas?

Why did Stagecoach X87/X88 move from Haymarket to Eldon Square? Did the X77, X78, X79 and X82 exist back then? I know the X47 is a new service. Busways/Stagecoach X87/X88 used to be in the Bus Concourse, then moved to Haymarket in around 1998, then moved to Eldon Square in around 2010/11 I think after Eldon Square Bus Station opened in 2007. Stagecoach no longer serves Haymarket Bus Station (as has been said on here before) and the Haymarket bus station is mostly Arriva with the only Go North East services being the Q3, 309/310/X39. Historically, Busways didn't serve Haymarket and I believe only used the Concourse, likewise Northern used Worswick Street Bus Station. Haymarket was Northumbrian Coaches.

The X87/88 were moved from Haymarket to Eldon Square for a few reasons. Obviously, it meant that it went from the same bus station as the X77/78/79. I believe congestion in Haymarket bus station was also a factor. Of course, now all the Ponteland Road expresses now serve the bus station which makes more sense.
The X47 was originally introduced with the support of a government grant. It replaced a far less frequent 47 if I remember correctly.
(10 Nov 2017, 4:08 pm)Cock Robin Northumbria Motor Services not Northumbrian Coaches.
When I first remember it the 87/88 was joint United/PTE and didn't go to any bus stations.
(10 Nov 2017, 1:04 pm)V514DFT X47 launched in 2006,all the other ex's youve stated have been around for years, the X34 once upon a time used to serve Haymarket, thats all the info i can provide, but as said, these questions you have need addressing in the bygone era

(11 Nov 2017, 10:11 pm)OrangeArrow49 Yes, that makes sense. I didn't know there was an X77/X78/X79 as I only used the X87/X88 from Haymarket. I don't remember getting any notice of the move. I just ended up at Eldon Square instead of Haymarket in around 2010 or so. I would if anyone has an old timetable from the Haymarket days of the X87/X88. The numbering makes little sense: X34, X47, X77, X78, X79, X82, X87, X88. Off topic slightly, it seems off GNE hasn't moved the Cobalt services to Eldon Square, they look silly in the Arriva bus station. Also, Quaylink should all be in Eldon Sqaure. X34 should join all the other expressed in Eldon Square too! Perhaps sharing the X82 stand if possible.
