(06 Jan 2018, 1:47 pm)Northern4555 think GNE get paid from nexus to keep tunnel link,so as long as jarrow to North Shields link maintained ,your right it's just operational convenience, rather than passengernew links etc

what about an extension on 19 from North Shields via fish quay ,royal quays to jarrow.this may open new destinations north of the Tyne

what i dont understand is why the 9 (soon to be 5) is still missing out East Howdon, wouldnt take that long to add in the whole of 4 stops (2 Jarrow/ S.Shields bound and 2 bound for North Shields),i would use the 2 bus stops that the 11 uses bound for Wallsend those could also serve the 5 for Jarrow and South Shields and the other 2 can serve the 5 for North Shields so all it has to do is come straight out of the Tunnel and in to East Howdon

Out of observation they are quite a reserve of services, for example service 29 can often gain several passengers from the 53/54 if it turns up first, the 67/69 has its regulars but can often pick up passengers that would often use the likes of the Q1/Q2 and 93/94.

It’s been awhile since I’ve been through Gateshead area, are 29/67/69/95 secured services?

I tried getting the 9 to actually go into royal quays a few years back, without any success.its ironic it says on bus'royal quays' but you have to get off and cross a busy dual carriageway, which I would be reluctant to let my children go to wet n wild on the 9 because of the roads around there,so getting GNE to send it thru east howdon will be be met with same not interested response.

There is no way that the car park can be judged suitable for a bus in its current state.

I dont think nothern4555 means into the car park itself, but i will say if GNE go ahead with the static display (much like the 21 and X21) then it shouldnt be an issue for much longer,i dont like the aerial font anyway, but yeah asking GNE to send the 5 into E.Howdon and R.Quays is nothing but a pipe dream unfortunately

Yes I've had a look and it appears that he doesn't mean that - apologies. It was me assuming that it went past Royal Quays as per the 11 and 19.

I suppose it wouldn't add much time for it to head down to the stops outside of Royal Quays, back around the roundabout to get back onto it's current route?

The section of route between Jarrow and North Shields is secured by Nexus, so it’s not necessarily Go North East who said no, Nexus would need to agree too.

I was having a look at the new 5 timetables last night and think ive got it. However are Washington going to do the 6.30 from N.Shields to Jarrow arriving 6.41? The only thing I can link that in with is to run light to Fellgate to do the 6.56 to S Shields

A new network map for South Tyneside has been added showing the new routes services will take. It was pretty clear anyway, but a map always helps me see things a bit better.

Sorry should have been clearer.the 9 runs along top rd past royal quays. a busy dual carriageway, without a proper crossing point, and for a min or two it could run down to roundabout around and stop right outside the retail park without having to cross the dual carriageway.wet and wild is diagonally across from this bus stop on quieter rd with crossing points.the road length is maybe 300 yards so we are only talking 600 extra yards on the whole route, but the safety and convenience of passengers ot weighs the 2 mins extra.i also think, more passengers would use this bus or the new 5 ,because of the convenience of getting the bus outside royal quays car park.

The most interesting thing about the map is it shows that no routes will pass under Black Road bridge anymore, so there's no height restriction for vehicles allocated to the 9, unlike the 88, which passes under the bridge.
