Arriva North East: Upcoming Service Changes
(21 Oct 2022, 4:47 pm)V514DFT 46/46A renumbered to X46, literally the most pointless change ever, what next 51 becomes the X51It being pointless won't stop Arriva. Remember a few years ago many services became X numbered for no reason, certainly not to signify express running. All they achieved was misleading and confusing customers. Still in place now with examples being X21, X22 ( Durham County), X26, X27, X75, X76.

Looks like the X46 will be ran by Stanley Travel

(21 Oct 2022, 7:13 pm)Storx In fairness it just sounds better. It's going to be an express service anyway as no-one is going to use it. I know someone made a joke about the 51 but they might aswell make it express along the Coast Road as most people just let it go by anyway, would save it going up and down each slip round pointlessly.

(22 Oct 2022, 7:02 am)Rob44 depends on how its advertised. If you could get a bus thats cheaper and quicker than arriva services you'd use it surely? Unless you wanted to be off at asda ot the town moor LOL

I’m assuming it’ll be to do with timekeeping and ensuring they can keep going with a single bus without getting too late. Less stops on the way in and out of town should help with this.

There are also some passengers using it from Corner House / Chillingham Road / Benfield Road to stops beyond Hadrian Lodge / Station Road.

(22 Oct 2022, 10:10 am)Rob44 Coast road -> Bring back the 44!!!Before COVID, I would've 100% agreed with an 'X' variant of the 308.

(22 Oct 2022, 12:04 pm)L469 YVK Before COVID, I would've 100% agreed with an 'X' variant of the 308.
If passenger numbers stabilise and driver numbers recovered, could do this (depending on Blyth's capacity) and if the 43/44/45 returned to normal frequency, would also solve the dead-mileage issue to Dinnington (43/44/45 too unreliable to interwork on a 15 min frequency).............
- 306 & 308 - both reduced to every 20 minutes and 306 withdrawn from Battle Hill. 308 during the day runs via Marden Estate rather than Hillheads. PVR 14x and 306 curtailed in Tynemouth.
- X38 - Same as 308 now between Blyth and Billy Mill. Then only calling at Norham Road and Willington Square before non-stop to Newcastle Civic Centre, St Mary's and Haymarket. Every 30 mins and a PVR of 10x interworking with 44/45.
Diverting the 308 via Marden would open up new links, whilst further distinguishing the 'express' element of the X38

(27 Oct 2022, 3:16 pm)V514DFT Interesting,so all these services are temporary, so we could see the majority of the changes that have happened this year gone permanently
