I asked elsewhere following the Metrocentre rally, but do you have a detailed history of depot allocations and rough dates for the Nationals?
Spent many an hour on them and wanted to tie up my rough dates, with any official ones.

Cheers

We have very detailed history for both 4681 and 4710. At every event we go to we have A stand with the history of the National 2's on it. most people don't know its got 2 sides to it.
Have A look at our Facebook group. The group has the history of 4681 and 4710 on it.

Hello.

For anyone who is interested FTN 710W will be doing 3 possibly 4 runs on the shuttle service at the NEBPT Howlands Park and Ride event on June the 21st. The significance of this is that I have never aloud 4710 to take part in such events as I don't believe in giving "free" rides.

However with the renewed interest in 4710 and our Group the Northern National Restoration Group with the arrival of R855 PRG it was thought that we give something back to the enthusiast's. Wile A Leyland National 2 isn't to everyone's taste it will give the opportunity to sample A bus that was constructed 34 years ago and is now extinct in public service. A direct comparison is then possible with modern buses.

Indeed the group was very happy with the response we got from the younger generation at The Metrocenter.

Anyone's thoughts are most welcome.

Thanks. Craig Smith. NNRG Operations Engineer.

I'll certainly be through Durham for a ride on 4710. I was gutted to have missed out on the run that was organised last year!

I've many fond memories Nationals operating in Tyne and Wear, and it's still one of my favourite single deck buses by a mile. It was good meeting you at the Metrocentre and having a good look at 4710. It's a fantastic restoration, and sounds superb for a bus of it's age.

Much like Aureolin, Nationals were a staple on routes running through my neck of the woods and an early memory of my childhood. If I'm available, I'd love to take a ride back in time on June 21st.

As it stands, yes - unless something crops up (which I don't think it will).

I'll be going for a few hours but I'll be probably leaving around 2:00-2:30ish as, inevitably, something has cropped up.

I will probably get the 0937 7 from Newton Aycliffe then a shuttle there.

No idea where I will get on the 7 thanks to the stupid Aycliffe 10K being on. Annoyingly it is always on the same day as the Howlands Rally.
