(10 Aug 2015, 5:59 pm)danpick The new Dyson is it, think I'll do it from Newcastle to Middlesbrough if it doesn't break down.

At least you are all giving it a fair hearing - even before it has set foot on the TTX  Tongue

(10 Aug 2015, 6:03 pm)citaro5284 To be honest there can be a quite a number of faults that can go wrong with them.  Each unit is basicaly a PC, and we all know what they are like when they go wrong - the kits in the Quaylinks are coming up to 5 year old (how many of us would keep a laptop that long), each unit also has the software on to run the NSA programme.  Then there is a Flash Card (which can and will corrupt in time) which holds all the data.  Then you have all the associated wiring from the unit to the monitor(s) and speakers (which can come loose with going over road humps etc) along with linking the unit actually into the vehicles electrical system - they are not that straight forward piece of kit.

It was more the software I was referring to. Though are there any plans to update the oldest examples, given that support for XPe officially ends in Jan 2016?

Some of the Arriva ones have a few problems with keeping the audio and visual announcements in sync - and the accuracy of the announcements is only as good as the GPS. If that goes off, as it did on a bus I was on last week, then the NSAs stop entirely (as well as the bus disappearing off the live map)

(10 Aug 2015, 5:57 pm)Michael Any surprise movements then Dan?

The following Dennis MPD/Transbus Mini Pointer vehicles have been withdrawn from service (most of which are now at Saltmeadows Road awaiting disposal):
- 536 (NA52 AWY)
- 537 (NA52 AWZ)
- 538 (NA52 AXB)
- 539 (NA52 AXC)
- 541 (NA52 AXF)
- 545 (NA52 AXK)
- 546 (NA52 AXM)

Transbus MPD/Transbus Mini Pointer 560 (NK53 TKZ) has transferred from Deptford Depot to Riverside, ahead of onward transfer to Hexham Depot.

The following Transbus MPD/Transbus Mini Pointer vehicles have transferred from Peterlee Depot to Deptford:
- 564 (NK53 TLO)*
- 565 (NK53 TLU)*
- 573 (NK53 TMY)
- 574 (NK53 TMZ)
* These vehicles were sent to Saltmeadows Road Depot for repaint into Go North East's corporate livery on Sunday.
Consequent withdrawals as a result of these cascades will presumably take place once all four return from repaint.

Finally, Dennis MPD/Alexander Mini Pointer 619 (NK55 RUW) has transferred from Peterlee Depot to Deptford, ahead of onward transfer to Hexham Depot, as confirmed yesterday.

It may be worth mentioning that Peterlee Depot currently retain Deptford's "Northern" branded Dennis MPD/Transbus Mini Pointer 547 (NA52 AXN) and also Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown 5161 (T811 CBW) - the higher PVR for the duration of the Millburngate Bridge roadworks can certainly account for one of these vehicles being retained until next month, as Peterlee will be covering a PVR of 13 with 14 "indiGo" branded Optare Solos.

Aye, I can understand the announcements momentarily stopping, because of loss of data access or whatever it needs. My original post was because the NSAs were working, i.e. the destinations being displayed on the screen as expected, but the volume had been turned right down.

Cheers Dan, wouldn't think it'll take long for the MPD's to get repainted... probables be done in the next 2 weeks.

Will 8273 get moved from Hexham because of 560 moving their?

What else is at SM for repaint?

(10 Aug 2015, 6:03 pm)Jimmi Peterlee isn't a great area for this sort of thing especially with the layout of Peterlee Bus Station especially when you are swapping buses around in the case of today.

There is the worry that if a event marketed to enthusiasts it would be mistreated, there apparently was a few messing around at the Quaylink launch last Monday.

What happened was two chavs went up to some of us asking what we were doing etc. Then later we had bus ******* shouted at us, although some of us had left by this point and some may not have been paying attention. Not the biggest fan of Peterlee especially the Bus Station.

These are some a few of the reasons why I don't go to bus "events" anymore. I feel embarrassed by other enthusiasts when they linger around for too long wearing scruffy clothes and talking to various members of staff. I was on a bus earlier when an Ashington driver got on and started talking to me, asking why I hadn't been out taking photos much lately... if that's not because of the shame, what is it?

I actively avoided the launch - mainly because the sun is better in Peterlee on an afternoon. I actually went round the extremities of the indiGo network like Seaham, Durham and Hetton-le-Hole.

It did get a window put out, hence why it has gone straight into the paintshop once the window was repaired as it was not due to go in just yet.

So it isn't Orange? If it was i'm guessing it would be nothing special and you would have said.

If i put all of the windows out on the other branded vehicles, will they all get repainted too? Would certainly speed up the process...
