(25 Aug 2015, 10:24 pm)S813 FVK There is a big difference between the X15 and X9/X10.

The X15 is on and off the A1 and, for most of the route, it is a standard single carriage way like most roads (minus the Dual Carriageways and Motorways). I am aware that some of the X15 route is on a dual carriage way (like when it first joins the A1 heading north at Gosforth). However, all of the A19 covered by the X9 and X10 is dual carriage way and doesn't keep exiting at every single possible point (not saying the X15 does that because i know for a fact it doesnt). That could be something to do with it.

The X15 barely reaches 40-50mph on the Morpeth-Alnwick stretch, it turns off at Felton and again into Shilbottle. I'm not sure on the Alnwick-Berwick section, but I'll say either held up by a tractor or other cars causing backlogs, as I've been in the car multiple times.

6060 won't start. The angels seem to be having a few issues lately.

We've ended up on a rather packed pulsar X12. Who was saying arrival should scrap this route to Newcastle again? [Sceptical raised eyebrow]

(25 Aug 2015, 6:07 pm)Dan Our new 'Bus Refurbishments & Repairs' thread (which can be found here) reminded me that I haven't provided an update on our current status with things at Thornton's for a while...

The three away at present are Riverside's Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown 4900 (V990 ETN), 4910 (W491 SCU) and 4919 (X919 WGR) - 4910 is the most recent one to have gone to Thorntons.

Formerly based within the Driver Training School, Volvo B10M/Plaxton Paragons 7080 (Y808 MFT) and 7082 (Y782 MFT) returned to Riverside from Thornton's this afternoon, following seating configuration modifications ahead of the new academic school year next week.

Also worth noting is that Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown 4896 (V986 ETN) and 4897 (V987 ETN) have both transferred from Deptford to Riverside - one of these is just an extra vehicle in the fleet which will help Riverside out while their own Volvo B10BLEs are away for DDA conversion, and one is to allow 4843 (R843 PRG) to be withdrawn (released by one of the entry into service of one of the MPDs from Peterlee).

4843 is on 97/98 today.   It operated the sunniside 97 this morning.
4896 or 97 is on service 27, with the other on service 95/96/64.
4919 is back in service today, was parked at Gateshead metro this morning.

If it is, it means they're changing or getting rid of the Highwayman brand... as a few people predicted... when it was announced they wanted to the change the services.

I wonder if anymore have being done... hence the post from Citaro... with the shiny red bus being a ex highwayman scania.

If it is the B8RLE, i hope it goes on the Prince Bishops because as Malarky said in the predictions thread:

That being said the Prince Bishops PVR is made up of Wright Solars of various ages from 2001/2002 & 2004, they are also a mix of Euro 4/5 also, so it will only be a matter of time in my opinion before the Prince Bishops does receive investment, as the latter will be due to be Withdrawn from Service in the next 2 Years I would think, with the 53/54reg Examples taking backseat role in the fleet - It can be found here: http://northeastbuses.co.uk/forum/showth...p?tid=1483&page=25

Dan also said a while back that the scania's would be the next bus to take a back role seat in the fleet...

Some of the scania's are coming up to 14/15 years old - i think they'll be replaced this year.

Also trail it on the Diamond to.

(26 Aug 2015, 1:55 pm)citaro5284 A nice shiny red bus has just arrived

Having visited Edinburgh earlier this month and evaluated by Lothian Buses' company management, this vehicle has now been acquired by Go North East for a demonstration trial to compare against other new single deckers available on the market, namely the integral Wright Streetlite Micro-Hybrid.

Allocated fleet number 9108 during its time at Go North East, this vehicle will first spend some time on "Prince Bishops" services 20/20A, transferring to Deptford from Saltmeadows Road later today.

It is pictured below after arrival at Saltmeadows Road. If anyone wanting photos of it wasn't quick enough to get down to Saltmeadows Road following citaro5284's earlier post, you'll get your chance to see it tomorrow in and around the Sunderland area.

Former "The Highwayman" branded Scania L94UB/Wright Solar 4932 (Y932 ERG) is the example at Saltmeadows Road for repaint, I believe, and it is joined by Deptford's former "laser" branded Mercedes Citaro 0530N/Mercedes Citaro 5308 (NK08 CHX).

I think its just like the blue floor they have on the buses now.

Thank god, all the seats are facing one way!

I wonder... if this will be used as the extra PVR bus for the 20/20A once its service to allow 5162 to be withdrawn?

Any idea how long is it here for Dan?

Yeah, I think that the B8RLE is a bit too heavy of a vehicle TBH. The results might show otherwise but I highly doubt it. Why don't GNE look at the ADL E200MMC with a 6.7l ISBe unit? Good combination of performance and fuel economy too.

I know that GNE and Go Ahead are loyal to Wrightbus but ADL's offering across the board looks far superior TBH, fulfilling every requirement of a bus operator through a range of chassis and body combinations. Shame Volvo didn't put the 8 litre engine into the Gemini 3. GNE would've snapped them up like hotcakes and I don't think that the B5TL nor the Streetdeck are suitable for anything other than Town and City work. The E400MMC would take the Pronto to the next level. The Streetdeck would only solve issues short term.

It'll be interesting to see how it copes on the 20/20A being its a long route, it still has a 7.7 litre engine so it might cope quite well, we just don't know until it enters service...

I do hope it goes well and GNE do buy some... it also depends on the price, anyone know the rough price, that including.. sockets, WIFI and stop announcements?, as GNE will have to buy 20 of them? Tongue
