There are many ways in which a bigger, newer house with more bedrooms and less maintenance needed would suit us better than the one we live in. That doesn't mean that we will or can go out tomorrow and buy a nice 4 bed newbuild, though. For several reasons, finance being just one of them.

Likewise, GNE will have good reasons why they can't just go out and replace every single MPD with a shiny new Solo SR before Easter.

The logical replacement for the MPD would be an Enviro 200.

Do GNE have any Enviro 200s?

The Optare SR may well be a better replacement where a small vehicle is called for.

They don't, they should get some though but it looks like they'll be sticking too Streetlites.

Is it because GNE don't want to deal with Alexander Dennis?

Wright seem to be the preferred body-builder.

I think we'll continue to see a gradual minibus fleet replacement with Optare Solo SRs over the next year or two.

It makes sense to stick with what you know, and Go North East must have a pretty good relationship with Optare given that three vehicles are presently on loan from them.

Yes, the relationship with the 'supplier' (whether it be the manufacturer or the dealer) is an important part of the 'deal'.

One way that Volvo got a hold onto the UK truck market back in the late 1960s /early 1970s was to provide operators with demonstrators on loan.

Optare do have a strong relationship ship within the company back in the early 90s it was Delta, Spectra, Solo, Excel, Sigma, Metrorider, nowadays it's the Solo SR, Tempo, Versa, Metrocity, Metrodecker would love to see a Metrodecker on demonstration purposes around here to see how it performs and then possibly future orders I used to like the Delta when I was a Bairn and Spectra I would often ride the Excel and Sigma round where I live canny bus back in the day

Optare 'took over' the MCW vehicle designs when MCW closed, including design and manufacturing personnel - thus the Metro names.
