(28 Jun 2016, 7:07 pm)BusLoverMum If it is true, I'm sure it's not random. There tends to be a bit of thought goes into these things.

I don't think the 19 will receive any new vehicles just yet. I can however see something like this happening down the line and maybe some newer buses then:

- 9: Current 9 route from North Shields to Sunderland every 30 minutes
- 9A (split at Cramlington for Tacho rules): Current 19 route from Ashington to Percy Main then 9 route to Sunderland every hour
- 9B: Blyth - Newsham - High Pit then same route as 9A to Sunderland every hour

I was told yesterday by a Percy Main employee that the 19 would be receiving Solo's, along with Washington for an extension of the 'indiGo' brand.

The 19 would be a bit of squeeze at certain times especially between Northumberland Park for Solo's
Though Washington routes would be alright as most services have MPDs or Cadets/Merits on them, And the Solo that GNE buys is nearly halfway in size between a MPD and a Cadet so fits in just nicely.

It wouldn't surprise me if GNE are planning on having the Indigo brand introducted to Washington this year.. Seems to be a trend atm.

If that info from the driver is true.

Not sure on the passenger numbers for the 19 though so can't comment on the rumoured Solo's, tbh its the same as Washington.

Solos would be no good on the 19 especially at peak times. And even still it gets busy especially around North Shields and Seaton Deleval to Cramlington.

(30 Jun 2016, 7:21 pm)S813 FVK Does anybody know which Quaylink Versa operated the Q3 journey that arrived back at Great Park at 18:14? It had a green advert on the rear (but i think it was said that two have the same rear ad?)

It was either 8311 or 8312, both have adverts for Gosforth Great Park Academy, a school that will be built shortly. However, my dad is involved in the planning of the school with him being in charge of 105 schools himself and apparently the adverts are going to be replaced because of copyright infringement due to the advert showing the Gosforth Academy logo, the new school is not related to that school

(30 Jun 2016, 10:07 pm)Michael Let's hope it isn't...

Why?

It may sound odd but for customers, if it helps them to recognise their bus etc then that all that matters and not the name or the cosmetic side(what the brand looks like) of things.

I guess as an enthusiast, then if it is "Blue arrow" it does as I say sound odd and would of probably preferred if any brand name was related to the number of the route or anything that has any meaning to the route but I won't be losing sleep either way.

Me neither, and I bet I need more beauty sleep than you BLM  Smile

I dont know the brand name to be honest, but if it is called Blue Arrow, does it not make sense that there is already a Green Arrow going to the Metrocentre and they share common sections of route from Newcastle?

I am guessing this ''100% easy access fleet'' no longer includes the 8 Volvo Olympians still in service.

To me it sounds a daft name to brand it... if of course it's "Blue Arrow", might as well bring back "Silver Arrow".

That's my personal view though.

From what I have gathered, the points being made against 'Blue Arrow' seem to be because there is already a 'Green Arrow' brand.

I, personally, don't see anything wrong with it. A valid point that has been raised is that the 11 and 97 both operate between Metrocentre and Newcastle and to similar routes at that. I think it would make sense to maybe show that the services have a similarity and this can easily be done through the branding. Afterall, a similar thing was done with the Citylink brand was introduced to service 57 on a different colour. Nobody complained about that so I honestly don't see what is any different here (providing that is the brand, of course).

Issues with the 1 today?

Noticed one scooting down Old Durham Road NIS.

What was the name of the fella on the GNE FB page who used to moan about the 1?
