I know it's not looking good for Arriva. To be fair they need something below 5 years old on a Dales bus or Moors bus service , also presumably not a streetlite as they break down when they are new. Yes thankfully 2868 was parked spare at Darlington and it was brought 60 Miles to Ingleton.

(22 May 2017, 7:24 pm)RobinHood They certainly wont buy new vehicles for a contract that only lasts a few weekends each year.I think an independent company would be better. As you need a new bus on a service that is remote. I have been told the breakdown yesterday coat £350.
Given the issues so far on both Moors and Dales, I wonder if they even consider the contracts next year? That tow-in wouldnt have been cheap.

(22 May 2017, 8:39 pm)Jimmi Not to mention there's also the likelihood that the DalesBus 830 won't return next year (and beyond) due to a lack of funding, the Arriva 830 wasn't looking like it wouldn't be back this year until funding was found at the last moment to support the service for the year.Yes you do have a point there Matthew. I did this route a couple of Sundays ago and it was pretty much full. They need to at least maintain the vehicle well that does this route as they could of avoided the breakdown yesterday easily. I think it would be good if an Independent company such as Dales & District did this route but as you say they use both their Srs on services this year. They do have the two 14 reg Enviros but they are awful rattly things.
Pretty much all of the independents local to the DalesBus and Moorsbus routes currently have no buses that are newer than the 11 reg Solo's currently used on the 830, pretty much the only options are Dales & District two Solo SR's or Scarlet Band using a Durham Park & Ride Solo SR although Dales & District currently use both Solo SRs on their two DalesBus offerings this year.
