(25 Jun 2017, 6:44 pm)Malarkey Hmmm like 27 and 56 being reduced to operate every 12 minutes instead of every 10.
lets not forget the 27X either.
Maybe we should talk about the service reductions on the 23rd July while we are at it.

(25 Jun 2017, 7:03 pm)Dan It's a case of 'use it, or lose it' - maybe we should talk about Stagecoach's service reductions which have taken place in Sunderland, South Shields and Newcastle recently, and are alluded to crop up again on Teesside in the near future?
(25 Jun 2017, 7:07 pm)cbma06 Didn't work out on the previous cross city services with 29/39 and 26/36 which ended cutting the services at city centre, with one section on the route relaying on the other section clogged up

(25 Jun 2017, 7:03 pm)Dan There is no change to the overall PVR at Hexham. The only change is the transfer of the weekday operation of the 689 service from Stanley to Hexham - but this is a like-for-like swap, and just means that the MPD which would have otherwise been withdrawn next month (replaced by a full-size single-deck), will in fact remain in the fleet for a little longer. The changes here are largely offering better connections (X85 being extended to Newbrough), with services having more streamlined timetables.

(25 Jun 2017, 7:07 pm)Michael We could but then we'll go off topic haha, i've heard the services which run every 10 minutes will be cut to every 12 minutes, and the
18 will go which isn't a surprise.

(25 Jun 2017, 7:13 pm)Dan To go back to Malarkey's original post - services having their frequency reduced from every 12 minutes to every 10, is hardly creating a massive impact.
If the cost of adding an additional bus into the cycle is not warranted (to increase layover and running times in a bid to improve reliability), then reducing the frequency by 2 minutes in order to create a more robust timetable, seems like a no-brainer. If reliability is poor, services won't be running on an even headway, so chances are they wouldn't be operating on a 10-minute frequency anyway.

(25 Jun 2017, 7:01 pm)Michael It's worked out well having "Cross City Services" in Sunderland, the merging of the 2/2A and the 42 has worked out really well, so much they've bought new Streetlites for the route... Although that merge happened ages ago.
Merging the 36 and 71 is also another example which has worked.
Swapping the 20/20A and 35 between Sunderland and Shields is also working.

Not sure what's happened but:
Currently no service on Vine place due to police activity blocking road. Service diverted away from area via St Mary's way or Burdon rd
Currently experiencing delays on svc's 2/20/35a/39/56/136 due to buses being stuck in a road block by police. Services are still running.
(25 Jun 2017, 7:03 pm)Dan Not sure what the relevance of this is, when Peter was discussing Go North East making a business decision to remove a spare vehicle from its fleet?

Go North East's service revisions next month won't have too much of an impact on overall PVRs, and in most cases, are actually quite positive. The changes in Washington aren't actually too drastic, and there's only a saving of one bus from the overall PVR I understand (which comes from the 86 being curtailed at Washington Galleries in lieu of operating to Barmston Court, which will instead be served by the revised 83 service on the same frequency as the current 86). Contrary to what you suggested when you first saw the registrations on VOSA, Go North East are not out to hit the single-ticket market. Through single/return tickets are still available as now, on the same routes, and this is highlighted on the timetable. Nobody is being forced to buy a day ticket.

The only real reduction in PVR is as a result of the X36 - but if it was used by enough people to cover the running costs, it wouldn't be withdrawn.
(25 Jun 2017, 5:26 pm)Dan 4937 will be retained as a float vehicle for refurbishments - it is likely that some of the older Volvo B10BLE and Scania L94 presently used as float vehicles will be withdrawn now that younger vehicles are available. I believe there is interest from a buyer to preserve 4922.
5206 and 5207 will replace V-reg Volvo B7TL at Chester-le-Street - this relates to the conversion of the majority of boards on services 13/X25 from double-deck to single-deck earlier this year. Some boards remained as double-deck as they interworked with scholars services, whilst others remained as Volvo B7TL pending the availability of further Scania L94.
No, there has been a reduction of one spare vehicle at Chester-le-Street.
It is likely that there will be a further reduction of spare vehicles across the fleet, in line with the new financial year commencing, next month.

Never mind pvr reductions, another unjustifiable hike in monthly fares. With upcoming salary sacrifice and tax changes, It's becoming as economical now to take the car. Especially when now Omnishambles and B7s on the 21 are scheduled workings.
GNEs statement on Facebook is bloody woeful too. Wifi? USB? New vehicles and my favourites flexible ticketing payment options (you're gonna need a loan) and our app (which doesn't work and is massively inferior to competition !)
Vicious circle...passenger numbers down, invest in vehicles, result higher fare costs = passengers down
(25 Jun 2017, 9:27 pm)South Tyne Lad 4922 and 4915 are expected to move a Independent once Withdrawn etc. I don't believe for preservation, More likely for contract's/Private Hire etc. Ive heard there's plan's for atleast one to gain Seatbelts.

Currently the X84 and X85 alternate to maintain an hourly service on both.
Extending the X85 to Newbrough will mess up this arrangement and these timings (unless an additional vehicle is added - though, of course they will lose the 687 buses which will probably be reallocated to 683/684 duties).
Changes to services in Hexham and Tyne Valley from 23 July 2017.
The departures from Newcastle are unchanged X85 +10, X84 +10, and Arriva 685 at +45, return times from Hexham are x85 +40, Arriva 685 +42, X84 +55, totally unbalanced

With reference to the reduced need for spare vehicles at depots, Go North East I believe have lost a number of school contracts to Independent operators so no doubt a number of red deckers (and prob the remaining Volvo Olympians) will be withdrawn.
