(15 Aug 2017, 9:00 pm)a718abb The A19 is a nightmare road for all vehicles that use it, no more so than the X9/X10. On paper, the concept of running a service between Newcastle and Middlesbrough with just a few stops on the way is am good one. Indeed, it is quicker than Northern Rail, which goes through Sunderland and Hartlepool, and in that respect, GNE have the advantage. But the practicalities of running the service at peak times, causes major problems for time keeping. This situation is only going to get worse, owing to the forthcoming major roadworks upgrading Testos roundabout and Downhill Lane Interchange on the A19. There is really no workaround.

(16 Aug 2017, 4:24 pm)Tom Anyone know what will operate the 1 from Gateshead at 16:57 when the changes happen and the X39 no longer goes to Gateshead? Will it just be the bus from the X39 as now but running light to Gateshead, or a different working?

(16 Aug 2017, 7:59 am)Andreos1 Without being flippant, there is.
Diversions.
The route is allowed to do it and as we all know, often does.
It may be that the works at Downhill cause too many issues.
A long-term diversion to the X9/10 is feasible and for those who use the service to/from Testo's, I am sure a workaround can be put in place to ensure they aren't disadvantaged too much. That could be a free connection at Heworth or whatever else.

(16 Aug 2017, 4:51 pm)a718abb There is a perfectly reasonable workaround which I used to use, with permision from control, but it would mean missing out the Testos bus stop. We used to go from Heworth, along Lingey Lane, to Follingsby, through the outskirts of Washington to the A1231 Sunderland Highway, rejoicing the A19 at Wessington Way. But authority would need to be gained to miss out Testos bus stop.

In regards to the X9/10 how many people actually use the stops at Testos, it is a good 10-15 min walk to civilisation and ive never saw anyone waiting at those stops before either, ive always thought it would be good if one of them went to the stop at boldon cinema, it would open up the route to more people and only add 2-3 mins on the journey.

The 64 is a joke of a service. Every driver says the same, nobody gets on and it is just driving in tight circles for hours. One would have thought the council would pay more for Scholars.
