(16 Mar 2018, 7:17 am)BusLoverMum Are these Yorkshire E200s in the new livery? If so, one has just passed on the 64 route. Didn't see if it was an actual 64.

They are indeed.

Due to Driver shortages at Durham Depot, Darlington have currently taken 1522 and a service 7 running board from them

Yet Stockton have taken X66s off Darlington! Why didn't they just take X12s off Durham?!

The newer Solos at Whitby are to be used on the 95, rather than Park & Ride... hence 7609/10 being on the P&R runs. Both of these have age restrictions on the contracts

(15 Mar 2018, 2:16 am)Multi21 Sounds like sour grapes from a washed up has been, I wouldn't take it to heart.

This Is going to seem odd after my last post. After spending a few weeks on death row, I'm thrilled to announce 1922 is coming back into fleet. Its been fitted with a new gearbox also I noticed 1917 sat on the MOT prep bays.. I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of the Cadets just yet.

I think the first reply is not in the spirit of this forum and off topic The meaning of sour grapes is acting meanly after disappointment. I will say that I was disappointed by my treatment at Darlington before I left after having treatment for cancer but I do not consider that I acted meanly by expressing an opinion as per the original post about staff shortages. I was a driver on x1 and have enjoyed bus driving over the years. I currently work for Garnetts and hope that they do not consider me to be washed up and are happy with my efforts From this info Mr. Wise will know that I am Colin Raine and he will understand my comment I hope this will bring this matter to an end

I thought it odd that Solo's were apparently being used on a P&R where capacity often dictates deckers being used.
I've no idea on the contract stipulations and restrictions, but two Solo's to cover that many parking spaces didnt seem to make too much sense.

I'm surprised its taken them this long to realise that having a Solo on there was not practical.

(16 Mar 2018, 10:02 pm)S813 FVK I'm surprised its taken them this long to realise that having a Solo on there was not practical.

It was all down to the route NYCC stipulated. Arriva suggested to NYCC in the second year of operation that running all journeys via the P2 route was most logical, however it wasn't adopted.

Unfortunately, the West Cliff variation is a political stipulation and the Solo has prohibited further growth (couldn't be any bigger due to the route it took) around West Cliff.

For 2018, some obstructive parking spaces have been removed following consultation with residents, with DD operation now suitable around West Cliff.

Goes to show, I don't think it has 'taken them this long' to realise. Probably taken longer to cut the red tape...

That is exactly what I said to a member that’s on here,

If Darlington are able to cover a Durham run then why aren’t they able to keep the X66, or better still just loan the drivers to Darlington, sure people want overtime

7489 was allocated to the P1 quite a bit when 2828 was off and on the 1 occasion that I was on it, all of the stopping for cars to pass etc was nothing less than what the Solo was recquired to do, hence my statement

I understand that the VDLs are longer though which may make it more difficult.

Firth Moor is renowned for being a bit of a hole and Darlington Town Centre seems to be getting worse again in the evenings, especially around Feethams, stuff being chucked at passing cars and buses on a recent occasion when I had to catch a bus, on another occasion two teenage passengers were turfed off a Sapphire 7 due to disrespectful attitudes being shown towards the driver.

Buses have been pulled from part of Firth Moor again this afternoon "in the interest of public safety we will not be operating any services along fenby avenue due to a bus window being smashed."

EDIT: the service 13a will be going down Geneva road then Harris street to Firth moor and the 13b will serve Harris street Geneva road. sorry for any Inconvenience

It’s not as simple as that - I personally covered parts of the Durham 7 working before and after my own job on Friday and after a driving shift on Saturday. Borrowing drivers long term is expensive and time consuming
