SGI buses have had 6 vehicles repossessed by Dawsons Rentals late last week, fuelling rumours of their demise. It certainly seems that drivers haven't been paid for a number of weeks and they are only running one service (284) this week.

Why did Arriva choose not to merge what is now Yorkshire Tiger into their Arriva Yorkshire operations which would have created a stong and also clearly Arriva presense in Yorkshire?

They are at Leeds depot, and have replaced the OmniCitys on the 757. The OmniCitys are to be refurbished for use on the 737/747.

(05 Jan 2014, 10:21 am)tyresmoke First York add to versatile fleet

First York are about to take delivery of 6 brand new Optare Versa EV (electric) buses, which will be used on the new Park & Ride service to Poppleton. They are in silver base livery with lime green applied in current First livery style, and they also feature the current standard First interior with leather seats, wi-fi etc.

The 6 Optare Versa EV's are 11 metre examples and have 34 seats.

Registrations are as follows:
YD63VCM
YD63VCN
YD63VCO
YD63VCP
YD63VCT
YD63VCU
Not aware of fleet numbers being allocated yet.

The new service is expected to start running in the spring.

The Versa EVs have now arrived in York and have been re-registered as followed:

49901 YD63VCM is now YJ14BHA
49902 YD63VCN is now YJ14BHD
49903 YD63VCO is now YJ14BHE
49904 YD63VCP is now YJ14BHF
49905 YD63VCT is now YJ14BHK
49906 YD63VCU is now YJ14BHL

The new Park & Ride site at Poppleton is destined to open on the 1st June which will also see the start of the service which, oddly for York, is numbered 59.

That lime green certainly doesn't go with the silver. Is the interior brown too or is that my eyes?

Yeah the seats are brown and when I went past the Park and Ride construction site last month the building was hardly even complete. I hope they don't end up doing a Whitby Park and Ride and opening the site to the public without it being 100% complete. I'd also love to know why they like to use the word 'Bar' in their park and ride names. At least 3 of the current sites have that word on the end of it (Askham, Rawcliffe and Grimston) plus Poppleton Bar which has been said by many users (me included)

I can't help but compliment the staff at Huddersfield Buses. When me and my family went to Holmfirth (Last of The Summer Wine), for a long weekend a few years ago, we used several of their services in and around Holmfirth, as well as the express to Huddersfield, and the drivers were all friendly and helpful. As well as the beautiful scenery (I think the British countryside is unbeatable when it comes to beautifulness), the vehicles were quite nice as well. If I recall they had a few Alexander RHs, a couple of SPDs, a Lynx (if I recall), a Palatine 1 and several other bodies on an Olympian chassis.

I strongly recommend a visit.

York's new Park & Ride sites have officially been confirmed as opening on Sunday 8th June 2014.

The new site at Poppleton Bar will be served by the Versa EVs on Turquoise Line 59, operating into York via Boroughbridge Road (the A59) to York Station then within the city centre operates the same route as the 3.

http://www.itravelyork.info/park-and-rid...leton-bar/

The second site is the enlarged site at Askham Bar, located behind Tesco there. A new bus lane has been built behind Tesco so buses can pass the current site and then travel direct to the new site. The current car park will become a normal Pay and Display Car Park.
