A thread for any super scrimpers out there...
If you've liked the "Save the Student" Facebook page, you'll have already seen this posted tonight.

I've just got myself this deal, which is due to be delivered next Wednesday:
http://www.savethestudent.org/student-de...-3-99.html

Obviously intend on cancelling as soon as I get the first box free, but it may be of interest to some of you to try out - even if it is just for one box (free of charge).

You normally don't get a choice. You have to rate portions whether you love, like, or hate.. something like that anyway. Based on that, they send you boxes with four random pots in them. I used to get two a week for a short while, but found them to be a waste of money. Some of the stuff had really short use by dates on them. Not to mention I've cancelled three years ago now, and they still hound me to resubscribe.

As aureolin said above, you don't get a choice. I'm only in it for the one-off, so I'm hoping they give me four (half decent) pots. Tongue

I rather enjoyed my free sample from Graze. Had three of the four boxes - gave the other to my mam. Not worth paying money for as the portions are too small (in my opinion), but worth a free sample.

Another deal which I imagine most of you will be interested in. By downloading Arriva's M-Ticket application, you can earn yourself a free day ticket. I'm not sure how many times you can do this (i.e. by deleting the app and then installing it again) but it's quite simple.

Once you've downloaded Arriva's M-Ticket Application, click 'Purchase'. After this, go through and enter the details and enter the code '4343'. The day ticket will appear in your list of available tickets.

The date of expiry is apparently 04/05/14, but I can find no evidence of whether this is how long you have to enter the code or use the ticket by.

Hmm. Do you reckon Stagecoach Carlisle may accept this on the 685?
Be handy if they did, I'm thinking of a trip out tomorrow!

No I think they only accept our returns, this would be a £7.50 day ticket.

Glad I've been of assistance in grabbing you a free day ticket! I doubt they'd accept it on the 685 though - imagine it'd be the same as the Teen Card etc as it's an operator-specific thing?

I can always give it a go. I've set it to 'Preview' and I'll probably use it the weekend after this.
I'm after a NE Explorer tomorrow as I'll be using several different operators.

I'd suggest that you use the day ticket before the deal expires, and that way you can claim another. I used my mam's Galaxy S4 today as I got a free M-Ticket on her phone too, and followed the steps below to get another on her phone straight away (so I'm on my third now, given that I've still got the one on my phone waiting for me)...

For Android users:
- Go to Application Management
- Select 'Arriva M-Ticket'
- Select 'Clear Cache'
- Select 'Clear Data'
- Select 'Uninstall'
- Navigate to your 'Arriva Bus' application.
- Select 'M-Ticket', and download the application again via the Play Store.
- Follow same process as before to claim your free M-Ticket. *

* Note: You may have to enter the details twice. It came up with 'Unknown Error' when I did it the first time, but was fine on the second.

This may seem like a silly question as I suspect the answer will be yes; but can you use these free M-Tickets on the Arriva-operated 685's between Newcastle and Carlisle?

If so, what 685's do Arriva operate?

Sorry for the delay in reply, only saw this post now. Yeah, you can use the region-wide day saver, and triple tickets as far as Hexham in the ''Tyne Valley'' Zone.

From Newcastle:
They operate the 0535 (terminates at Hexham), 0635, 0745, 0835 (terminates at Hexham), 1045, 1145, 1245, 1345, 1645, 1745, 1845 and 1945 (terminates at Hexham) departures from Newcastle Monday to Friday.

They operate the 0635, 0745, 0835 (terminates at Hexham), 1045, 1145, 1245, 1345, 1645, 1745, 1845 and 1945 (terminates at Hexham) departures from Newcastle on Saturdays.

On Sundays they operate a hourly service to Hexham, departing Eldon Square at 34 mins past the hour.

(25 Apr 2014, 4:16 pm)Dan The date of expiry is apparently 04/05/14, but I can find no evidence of whether this is how long you have to enter the code or use the ticket by.

Found this on the website Dan - http://www.arrivabus.co.uk/catch-the-bus-week-terms/

So you'd just need to "purchase" the ticket by the 4th, and can actually store it until the end of the year. Definitely worth keeping one just incase. Smile

Cracking deal! It's worth pointing out that over 25s are also eligible, if they're classed as a mature student.

For all you Domino aficionados (or if you are just hungry), it seems several branches are having birthday celebrations this week.

Just picked up a large 'Scrummy' and a personal pepperoni, for £5.99 - due to offers, freebies etc.

Both Sunderland, Washington and Houghton branches of Dominos are doing £8.99 any size pizza for delivery. Looks to just be a local offer, so unsure of other branches!
