Sunderland Illuminations are back for 2017, with lights spreading sparkle from St Peters Church all along the seafront. Roker Park will be transformed into a Festival of Light, with a Disney theme. The Park will be open every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 5 October to 5 November plus every night at half term, from 5pm – 10pm each night. In order to transport visitors to the event; Go North East are operating a special Park & Ride service, numbered 101. Following the introduction of new vehicles on services X9/X10 (Newcastle - Middlesbrough), and the end of the Masters Golf event which saw this vehicle allocated to a special shuttle service to support the event, this vehicle has been temporarily withdrawn from service. Whilst temporarily withdrawn, this vehicle will undergo repaint as well as internal modifications, which will see the installation of tip-up seats to create a buggy bay as well as the fitment of 'Next Stop' audio-visual announcements, better matching the internal specification of the buses allocated to "Tyne Valley Ten" services 10/10A/10B.
Having previously carried "Tyne Tees Xpress" branding, this vehicle has been repainted into a dark green base livery. As part of ongoing improvements to services on the Tyne Valley, Go North East will re-brand its "TEN" 10/10A/10B/10X services as "Tyne Valley Ten" on a green base livery, moving away from the silver livery which the vehicles allocated to these services have carried since 2008. The new brand is designed to represent the picturesque Tyne Valley corridor and promotes the frequent buses to Metrocentre and Newcastle which the "TEN" group of services provide, up to every 10 minutes. Following sale to Ensign Bus Co., Purfleet; this vehicle has joined the fleet of First South West, where it has been allocated to First Kernow's Camborne Depot. It is believed that the acquisition of this vehicle is only temporary, to aid vehicle shortages associated with the unreliability of the existing Dennis Tridents in the fleet, pending delivery of 10 new ADL Enviro400MMCs.

Originally sold for scrap to Davies Motors in Ruthin, North Wales during May 2017; this vehicle has now been acquired by Express Motors, North Wales. With Davies Motors now having purchased eight of Go North East's Mini Pointer Darts following withdrawal, the company is believed to be using all eight for spare component recovery to allow onward sale of as many of these Mini Pointer Darts as possible.
Following the cascade and repainting of the former "Tyne Tees Xpress" branded Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B9TLs onto the "Tyne Valley Ten" group of services; this vehicle, which previously formed part of the PVR of these services to accommodate service changes, has now transferred to Chester-le-Street Depot. At Chester-le-Street; this vehicle should act as a dedicated spare vehicle for "Angel" service 21, and will replace a Scania N94UD/East Lancs OmniDekka currently serving this purpose at the depot.

In order to allow the conversion of scholars service 28S from single-deck to double-deck, this vehicle has been formally allocated to Chester-le-Street. As such, one fewer double-deck vehicles will be allocated to the Special Events fleet and this vehicle will replace Scania L94UB/Wright Solar 4945 (NK51 OLJ), which transferred to Riverside Depot last week.
This vehicle has been stripped of "Cobalt Clipper" branding and has received a promotional livery for Go North East's "Big Days Out" campaign. The campaign, which was originally introduced in the summer of 2017 but will now be ongoing for the foreseeable future, has seen Go North East partner up with a number of attractions and businesses to bring its customers some great family offers. Customers who buy a £10 Family Day Ticket are eligible for discounts at venues involved in the partnership.
