December 2017 Go North East This vehicle, which carries a two-tone green and yellow base livery, has arrived into the Go North East fleet. It is currently being prepared for service at Saltmeadows Road Depot. Representing an investment of approximately £4.3 million, this batch of vehicles have been ordered to upgrade "Angel" service 21, which is currently allocated Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 bodied Volvo B5LHs, partially funded by a grant of £1,119,235 in Round 3 of the Green Bus Fund in 2012. These vehicles feature the latest technology, and are fitted with the third generation of Wrightbus' Micro-Hybrid system. December 2017 Arriva North East Photograph by This vehicle has been repainted into Arriva's new corporate livery. The company's new corporate identity, which includes a new logo and brighter colours, will be applied across the group in a phased introduction. The group said a 'cost effective and evolutionary approach' will be taken, which will see the new colours and livery rolled out from Q1 2017 as and when vehicles and other materials are due to be updated or repainted, while the refreshed logo is expected to be introduced from 2018.

December 2017 Go North East Following the entry into service of new double-deck vehicles on "Angel" service 21, representing a £4.3 million investment, this vehicle has been repainted into a plain light blue base livery. It is planned for this vehicles, and the others in its batch, to be branded for the "Coaster" services and transfer to Percy Main to operate services 1/1A (Whitley Bay - Wallsend - Newcastle - Gateshead).
December 2017 Go North East Photograph by Although Go North East's fleet comprises of a sizeable number of 90 Optare Solos; Go North East has now received this demonstrator vehicle, which has been numbered 9086 in the fleet. It is the first Euro 6 Optare Solo to feature a Cummins engine, serving as a prototype demonstration model for Optare. It is also the 'SlimLine' version of the Optare Solo (slightly 'slimmer' than the standard Solo, at 2350mm opposed to 2500mm), with both of these features being unique to the Go North East fleet. The SlimLine model is particularly popular across town, rural and access applications; and as such, the vehicle will be allocated to the newly-received Cathedral Bus contract... see more
