Although Scania CN94UB/Scania Omnicity 4664 (NK07 FZG) transferred from Jesmond Depot to Ashington in April 2017 to cover the additional vehicle requirements associated with the seasonal X18 service; that vehicle has remained at Ashington, while this vehicle has instead transferred from Ashington Depot to Jesmond. This has been done to reflect the upgrade of one running board on "Cross Pennine" service 685 from single-deck to double-deck, to combat high loadings on one trip from Carlisle, which is otherwise overcrowded.
In order to allow the conversion of scholars service 28S from single-deck to double-deck, this vehicle has transferred from Chester-le-Street Depot to Riverside. It is expected that one of the double-deck vehicles allocated to the Special Events fleet will transfer to Chester-le-Street Depot in exchange.
Following completion of repaint and internal modifications (including fitment of tip-up seats for a buggy bay and fitment of 'Next Stop' audio-visual announcements), this vehicle has been reinstated at Riverside Depot.
This vehicle has returned to Go North East following internal refurbishment and repaint into a plain orange base livery. Having previously carried "Tyne Tees Xpress" branding, this vehicle has been repainted into a dark green base livery. As part of ongoing improvements to services on the Tyne Valley, Go North East will re-brand its "TEN" 10/10A/10B/10X services as "Tyne Valley Ten" on a green base livery, moving away from the silver livery which the vehicles allocated to these services have carried since 2008. The new brand is designed to represent the picturesque Tyne Valley corridor and promotes the frequent buses to Metrocentre and Newcastle which the "TEN" group of services provide, up to every 10 minutes.
