The new livery design is a a lot more eye-catching and features a two-tone base livery, with the traditional key colour of red towards the front of the bus, and non-metallic dark blue towards the back. February 2017 Stagecoach North East Photograph by This vehicle has entered service at Walkergate Depot, where it will be allocated to service 38 (Whickham View - Freeman Hospital). During its trial period at Walkergate, it will be directly compared against Dennis Trident 2/Alexander Enviro 400MMC 10638 (SN16 OYD), which will also be allocated to service 38 for a two-month period, as opposed to services 62/63 (the services for which it was ordered to be allocated to). It is thought that the primary objective of the trial is to compare the fuel efficiency of the two different vehicle types.

It is currently being prepared for service at Saltmeadows Road Depot. Manufactured by Wrightbus in Northern Ireland, this batch of vehicles feature the latest Euro 6 Micro-Hybrid engines with the cleanest vehicle emissions standards. Unlike previous examples in the fleet, they therefore feature a Wrightbus grille on the rear bonnet, providing additional air circulation. February 2017 Go North East Following the entry into service of new Wright Streetlite DF/Wright Streetlite Max Micro-Hybrid vehicles on "Durham Diamond" service 16, this vehicle has been temporarily withdrawn from service to be internally refurbished and repainted at Bus & Coach World, Blackburn. The extensive refurbishment work includes, but is not limited to, external repaint; deep cleaning of the interior of the vehicle; renewal of floor coverings; cleaning all seat frames and re-trimming seats into leather with USB sockets on the back of every seat; fitting blue accent lighting underneath seats to provide extra light on the gangway; and fitting Next Stop Announcements.
