This vehicle has been repainted into Arriva's new corporate livery. The company's new corporate identity, which includes a new logo and brighter colours, will be applied across the group in a phased introduction. The group said a 'cost effective and evolutionary approach' will be taken, which will see the new colours and livery rolled out from Q1 2017 as and when vehicles and other materials are due to be updated or repainted, while the refreshed logo is expected to be introduced from 2018. This vehicle is the first in Arriva North East's fleet to receive the new livery.
Although Scania CN94UB/Scania Omnicity 4664 (NK07 FZG) transferred from Jesmond Depot to Ashington in April 2017 to cover the additional vehicle requirements associated with the seasonal X18 service; that vehicle has remained at Ashington, while this vehicle has instead transferred from Ashington Depot to Jesmond. This has been done to reflect the upgrade of one running board on "Cross Pennine" service 685 from single-deck to double-deck, to combat high loadings on one trip from Carlisle, which is otherwise overcrowded.
No longer expected to return to service at Jesmond having been replaced by cascaded Wright Streetlites, this vehicle's sub-branding for services 52/53 has been stripped.
Having incurred defects at Redcar Depot; this vehicle has transferred to Darlington Depot, and, following the completion of repairs, has returned to service at Darlington to act as a replacement vehicle for MAN 18.270 EcoCity/Caetano City Gold 4813 (WX61 HSL), which has been withdrawn from service pending repair having been involved in an accident.
Due to the short notice termination of the Sainsbury's contract in Whitby, the Sainsbury's Free Bus in Whitby has been withdrawn from Sunday 20th August. As a result, Arriva North East has amended services 94 and 95 to accomodate journeys to and from the store. These services have both been merged together to create one cross town service, operating every 30 minutes between Sleights, Whitby and Eskdale, including the Sainsbury's store. This revised provision will offer more frequent services into the store, up to every 30 minutes Monday to Saturday and hourly Sundays.
