Why would Go North East pay to have the Renown's made DDA - Compliant only to withdraw them after a few months?

My thought exactly.

Don't know just a Suggestion
What buses would you replace?

Cadet's and Merit's which I belive are getting withdrawn this year.

The Merits were only updated to Euro 5 last January so not sure they would be withdrawn.
I would say the Cadets and the duel door B10s.
(31 Jan 2016, 6:47 pm)Davie wrote [ -> ]Why would Go North East pay to have the Renown's made DDA - Compliant only to withdraw them after a few months?
Because they'd have buses that weren't DDA compliant on the road now otherwise. Making them DDA will probably make it easier for them to be sold to operators for further service.
(31 Jan 2016, 6:47 pm)Davie wrote [ -> ]Why would Go North East pay to have the Renown's made DDA - Compliant only to withdraw them after a few months?
Because otherwise they would be short of vehicles for months...if they were withdrawn before 1/1/2016

Or they could of got the new buses in December.
Am not saying what are the cascades are til they happen and which buses will move where or get sold to until it happens

It may of costed alot so they DDA them
(31 Jan 2016, 7:07 pm)DanPicken wrote [ -> ]Or they could of got the new buses in December.
Not always possible, besides even if they had ordered buses to be expected to be delivered in December 2015, there would be no guarantee that they would actually have been delivered or be fit for the road in time the DDA deadline.
Is it the Lolyne's which aren't DDA?
I can't remember if its them or the Plaxton ones... haha

I think Merit's only have a 12 year life span (Please feel free to correct me).

But my point is, why pay for them to be DDA Compliant then withdraw them?

Olympians and lolynes aren't DDA

Without PSVAR modifications they would be illegal to use in service!

I think they do but it seems daft to withdraw them a year after they were fitted with Euro 5 modifications.

Thought it was the Lolynes, cheers

If merits are to be leaving a prediction for the s1 a mini e200. Or if loadings are high a larger version possibly e200mmc

I know that.

If they can't get a new batch of vehicles in, then upgrading what they have (even at a cost) is better than no vehicles at all - or a fine.

That'll be on next years orders - as this years are already confirmed.
I do hope GNE go for the Enviro in future.

But you can't see the point in why Go North East made them DDA, the new buses still aren't even built yet and probably won't be on the road for months yet, so because of this the B10 Renown's either had to be made DDA or Go North East would have no buses to use on their services so they'd either have to illegally use buses which would be stupid, withdraw services so all their buses are DDA or fork out some money to make the buses DDA complaint which means the buses are legal now we are past the deadline. Like I said earlier, making them DDA will possibly additionally make it easier for them to be sold on for further service with new operators when their time is up at GNE whereas if they weren't DDA the operator would probably have to pay to make the buses DDA themselves or they'd walk away and buy something that is DDA.

I know what your saying, but why get rid of them when they can be continue their role as "Float" vehicle's.

Additional float/reserve vehicles cost money to run - there's a lot more to the cost of running a bus than the fuel used while operating a bus service.
On the subject of float vehicles is 548 a float or spare as its not used on shuttle service will it be of anytime soon.

They only have so much storage space.

No - it forms part of Deptford's normal vehicle allocation.
When are the Hybrids able to come off the Angel?
Won't miss them when they eventually do go. Probably my least favourite vehicle in 20 odd years of bashing
