At the end of the day, it's down to the airline where they fly (minus China where air routes are set - no matter how rough the chop maybe en route) so they calculate the risk. Some airlines are more risk averse than others, I guess, but at the end of the day, they won't knowingly put anyone in danger. Slightly different, I know, but I remember flying home from MEX on BA and them totally rerouting our flight to avoid some stormy weather out on the Mexican Gulf. It added a an hour onto our flight on the good old 744, but better safe than sorry. Interesting, that should it have been the case in China, you wouldn't be allowed to deviate.

As the days go on, it is looking more likely that this was an act of terrorism
I forgot to say a Tara Air Twin Otter has crashed at Jomsom in Nepal, I complained to sky news because they put a picture on their website saying: 'This is a Twin Otter like the one that crashed' When in fact the image is a Dornier 228

Leading on from the terrible Shoreham Airshow disaster last year, the CAA are wanting much tougher safety measures.
It would look like some airshows may not be taking place - especially the smaller ones, possibly?
Ethiopian really aren't having much luck with their 787s:

Time will tell. I was genuinely surprised it wasn't a Russian airline when I saw the news come through. Having flown with Rossiya and Aeroflot, I was left with a bad impression of Russian aviation. I was very thankful to get a speedbird back home.

I really do hope they prosecute. Drone flying in such densely populated airspace is plain ridiculous and reckless.

Some interesting shenanigans with an Airbus tanker in Yorkshire and the Northeast, tonight - reports of sonic booms heard between Leeds and Harrogate, earlier. Latest suggestion is that it's dumping fuel and expected to land in Newcastle.

I heard the Typhoons heading back south at about 2230.
Had no idea what they were doing in the area at that point like.
