The Kirkby Stephen and Brough Classic Commercial Vehicle Rally will take place on 26th & 27th March 2016.
This thread has been created to report on the vehicles attending, travel arrangements and plans to attend the rally.
Think Stu Gray has organised a trip over to Kirkby Stephen for the past couple of years, with Stagecarriage. Was their Dennis Condor in 2014 and then a Leyland Olympian/ECW in 2015. Would be nice if he organised another trip over, although I wouldn't commit to attending with it being Easter Sunday.

Yes, was Leyland Olympian H728DDL last year which is a cracking bus. I certainly hope a trip is organised again for 2016, I went along last year and it was a cracking day out with all sorts of different bus types to have a ride on, mostly old stuff although First brought along their Yorkshire Rider liveried Volvo B9TL last year

I'd strongly recommend going if you can get there. Here's an album of some of the stuff I snapped last year

The Eden are running over this year again with L14 (PPT446P), and will have pick ups around Bishop. Not sure if the 500 group will be taking their VR this year - last years trip was "in conjunction" with them due to their lack of a suitable vehicle
Are there any trips from the Tyneside area? I haven't attended before and would be interested in going.

In previous years, I believe the trip referred to above has waited for the first X21 to get into Bishop? So perhaps that's an option if the case remains the same this year?

Thanks Adrian, it would be a cracking day's outing. I'll get a look out for further postings.

Except for last year, Wilkinson Travel of South Shields used to attend each year, taking their 1981 Tiger coach, but it was off road last year.
I have tweeted them to ask if attending this year, but no reply as yet, and nothing on their website yet either.

Two years ago when I went to the Kirkby Stephen rally, it took me two and a half hours to get to Bishop Auckland. I'd be interested in going with Wilkinson Travel, on the basis that I'd assume their pick-up would be a lot easier for me to get to from Sunderland than Bishop Auckland. A pick-up/drop-off in South Shields would be a one-hour round trip, as opposed to five hours to/from Bishop Auckland.
They brought their Leyland Tiger to the Seaburn Bus Rally last year - it looked like a well-presented coach with comfortable seating (which is exactly what you need when you're sitting on a coach for about two hours!)
Having said that, it would depend on the cost of the coach. I should have my car by then, so it may be more practical for me to just drive over (especially if another enthusiast wanted to go halfies on petrol!)

Think the cost previous years was between £10 and £15. I'm hoping they are going to attend this year as I'm off work Easter Sunday. They usually do pick ups around South Shields Jarrow Hebburn and possibly Heworth
Update from Wilkinson Travel South Shields. (When we spoke to them today)
They have applied to enter this years rally and are waiting to be confirmed as an entry. If they are they will be opening the day to passengers and should be able to advise by end of February if so. The price they charged 2 years ago was just £12 per adult which I think is very reasonable.
Buses made after 1978 won't be allowed in it seems so alot of people refuse to go.

If they enforce that, then it's stupid in my opinion. They're ultimately only catering for one crowd then.

They have, I believe its luck for a bus after 1978 to go.

Agreed, think nearly everything I rode at last years rally was either new in the 80s or 90s. If that is the case I bet it's going to be nowt but Routemaster's, which I must admit don't particularly excite me.

They are only enforcing it now as the entries are said to be approaching the maximum. There will be newer vehicles there but it's those that entered their vehicles early enough.

I won't be going as I have better things to do on Easter Sunday maybe if it was the Saturday...

Nice to see another north east bus heading down there.
I should be heading along to the rally again this year, I'm likely to be going on The Eden's Leyland Leopard from West Auckland.

For those members of the forum who are of school age. We adults do not have the luxury of picking and choosing what day we attend. Due to work commitments. There this rally is usually always attended on the Sunday
Worth noting that, providing you book in advance (can be done via the company's Facebook page), you can also pay on the day.
The coach will be departing Kirkby at 16:30 for the return journey back home.
Well the weather for Sunday looks just wonderful!
