An honorable mention to the 28A and I suppose the 28. Really varied route through urban and countryside.

Imagine Ouston commuters despise it!
Favourite Routes - 683, 688, 353, 47, V9, old X31, 128, X84, X85, X71.
Worst Routes - 53, 56, 58, 21, 78 from Chester to Sunderland, pretty much every route around Sunderland.

Whats the reason for that?

Surely heavy delays are but to be expected on match days and other days with large events on?

Oh, aside from Birtley, the 9 from Sunderland to Jarra'... grim grim grim! Would rather head up to South Shields and get the Metro over there!

There was 0 traffic in any direction on the route it took.

I like the 60. First time I've been on it, and even in the dense fog it was a decent ride.

That's even new on me Tongue
EDIT: My record is 28 minutes late

Pardon me if I offend anyone but I find mostly all routes around the Sunderland area (700, 39, 33,33A, 99, X36, X35, 56, 36, 35, 9, 238, 38, 60, and 2/2A) very dull and boring to ride.

I do like some though - X7, 61, 8, 78, 20/20A.

Don't apologise! Sunderland is a pretty dull and boring place, apart from the Seaburn coastline. Not a lot else to see really.

I am aware that we do have some people in Sunderland on this forum so opinions may clash at times.

I wasn't, was just wondering as you didn't give a reason.

All bus routes bore me to be honest.

The 238 is one I quite like.
Particularly the bit between Houghton and Seaham.

The full 38 is one I may have to do again before it goes.
Certainly interesting!

The 238 is canny on the Seaham-Sunderland section too. Never been on the full 38 but if I have a Saturday free will give it a go sometime before it goes and possibly the 99 too.

The bit between Shiney and Penshaw is canny too.
Particularly as it heads around Old Penshaw Village.

The 900 is a nice route to south hylton when it runs

Is that the 38 or 238?

Sorry -238.
The 38 doesnt go over that way.

The 238 skirts the far side of Penshaw Monument and there are some great (if brief) views.
Not a location that crops up on photos too often.

Cheers Smile

Might have a go getting some photos there and I could do with a photo of the MPDs.

I wouldn't know - never been for years!

The 36 going out towards CLS is a nice route, overall. Pineapples, castles and a coach depot. What more do you want?

I agree with that except I have never used the X7 or 61, the 265 between Durham and Hetton is good.
I am shocked that no one as mentioned the S1 as the most boring Go North East Route.

Since you mention it, I did it this afternoon and it is boring, made even less fun by the vinyls covering the windows, was like looking through my letterbox trying to see the view outside.
The 20/20A are other service's I find boring.

In some weird way I do quite like it! Going round the back and through the bus-only road using the barriers, yeah! Oddly entertaining!

I do prefer the route variations that the 20a and X20 have over the 20.

Got to say I much prefer the 20A to the 20, as the 20A seems to stop less than 20 which feels like it stops every 5 seconds between East Rainton and Houghton-le-Spring.

X20 is better though, just a shame it's a limited service, used to love the Pronto X20.

Weirdly I have never used the 20/20A/X20, I'll use it when the Streetlites come though, the Solars have put me off

The traffic lights and road traffic management on Gillas Lane do my head in.

Love the 'short cuts' the X20 does between Durham and Houghton.
Even though my eyes are taken out in the process.
