It will only ever work if they returned it to full sea front service Shields to Seaburn or Sunderland as previously. But not to have it timed 4 or 5 mins after the E1. That was senseless that timing.
Walkergate's Dennis Trident 2/Alexander Enviro 400 19388 (NK58 AFF) is currently undergoing repaint at Sunderland's Wheatsheaf Depot.

Should do.

That will save you having to ask the question every few days.

Cheers!

Do you know if they're being delivered to Sunderland first (for repaint/prep for service)? Living right next to the depot, I may strike lucky!

It makes perfect sense running a contract behind one of your commercial services.

I would imagine only if they are going to be repainted before service - all service prep is done by the individual depot.

Only if you want it to fail.

It's a contract your being paid to operate at a set rate for a set length of time. Why would you want to give a percentage of your guaranteed revenue back to the organisation that is paying you to operate the contract???

Not sure but it was Sunderland staff that went down to collect them. Obviously Sunderland have a bit less to do than normal at the moment so they could be Docked at Sunderland before going to there home depot

Yes - they're all parked up at Sunderland. Smile

Despite the reports of their recent repaint, the bodywork on these buses seems to be in quite poor condition. They'd certainly benefit from a repaint prior to entry into service.

39706 has entered service on the 72 at newcastle.
Does this mean a bus has transferred to sunderland as deleted said only 2 would leave.
22079,81,82 were also on local newcastle services

MAN ALX300 22050 replaced Pointer Dart 35187 after it burnt down. I won't be surprised if 39706 has replaced 22050 allowing it to go back into reserve?

Do you no what left shields?

No. But "mrnut85" did state in an earlier post that 22067 will be leaving once its engine is repaired. So I assume 22070 will be leaving as well?

Are MAN E200s 39707/8 now permanently based at South Shields or are they just on loan as cover vehicles? It doesn't make sence having these vehicles back in South Shields as they were replaced last year by ADL E200s 37301-19, and the X20 needs bigger vehicles especially for peak times of the day, unless there are plans to increase the PVR of the service?

39707 and 39708 will more likely be staying I believe.

With the MAN E200s being 11.2m, There just about half way between a integral E200 and a MAN ALX300, Aswell with the Nexus requirements now Euro 4 ( used to be Euro 5 I believe ) requirement on Evenings and Sundays, These MAN E200s fit everything required. A bit of a happy medium.

And capacity should be more than adequate for the daytime X20s.

Well the contracts we run down here the operator keeps the revenue so it wouldn't matter which service took the fares.

Anyway if the contract arrived at the time the existing service was due it would get more exposure and potential future patronage.

Informative post.
On the 18, got on at Springwell shops, it had 5 people on (including the driver and me so 5 in total), got to Grindon, all got off.

Currently at Pennywell where only 1 more person has got on....

Not sure these changes will help with the services making a profit.. Its early days though.

Edit:

Got off at Southwick with only the bus driver and 1 more person on.

Not the brightest move considering the 20 runs down Hylton rd
A branded e300 parked up at roker avenue with hazard lights on and a red cover on steering wheel.. Any ideas? Sorry couldn't ID vehicle

The 18/19 only runs on a very short section of Hylton road, passengers might board the 18/19 on that section to areas where service 20 doesn't serve (Pallion, southwick, seaburn etc......

Is 39706 staying at Newcastle or is it coming to South Shields soon. Regards Robin

We have 39707/39708, Slatyford will keep 39706 probably.

Speaking of 39708, The first day it was in service at Shields it sounded very unhealthy, I haven't seen it since.

Too busy enjoying a well earned retirement!

Whoever takes over, it just needs someone with some fresh ideas...

Fresh ideas?

Anything you would do?
I thought 39706 was coming to shields as part of an exchange with losing 34611 when it goes some day. Regards Robin
