I have been having a bit of a think, and thought it would a great idea to have a thread where all members of the NEB Forum can share photos and articles on a weekly basis at any point during that week from there Archives, this could even be tied together with "The Bygone Era" and "Treasures from our Archives" feature on the NEB News, with the best articles been shown on the news update for that week, in turn giving a more community feel to the site, as there are quite a lot of us who now take photos from across the region, rather than having images/articles from one individuals account each week.
So I shall start with an example from this week (Monday 27th June to Sunday 3rd July 2016).
This week in History saw on the 27th June 2014 the odd allocation of Go North East DAF SB120 Wright Cadet (8252) NA52 BVJ on Washington based Connections 4 Service 4 from Heworth to Houghton-le-Spring, seen here at Concord Bus Station.

The following day on the 28th June 2014 we are in Chester-le-Street we see former Volvo B5TL Wright Gemini 3 Demonstrator (9131) BF63 HDC on the X21 to Newcastle, this vehicle whilst with Go North East seen use on Service X21 (Bishop Auckland to Newcastle) and Services 31/32 and 47 (Newcastle to Winlaton & Blackhall Mill), 9131 started its life with Lothian Buses and has operation with various Bus Companies throughout the UK, and is currently part of the East Yorkshire Motor Services Fleet.

Finally we had further back in time to July 1st 2013, the scene is Houghton-le-Spring and the subject is Go North East Scania L94UB Wright Solar (4958) NL52 WVO having at the time recently been repainted into a maroon base ahead of transfer onto Waggonway Services 28/28A, with the imminent arrival of new Mercedes Citaro's for the Metrolink Service M1 (Houghton-le-Spring to Heworth), which then branded Connections 4.

Now that I given a few examples from my Archives, what are your opinions going forward with this idea?
Great idea, Adam. I think this one would be better off as a forum feature for now, as this will easily allow all members of the forum to share their own archived content. Even if others don't have much of an interest, you could continue with the venture yourself on a blog, for example?
The new "Treasures from our Archives" feature on the news page works similarly, but it only looks at actual news content previously submitted for that month in years gone by. The news content is linked to the fleet archive, so we wouldn't really be able to include random photographs in the "Treasures from our Archives" section as it would be shown as news.
I'm still plodding on adding archived fleet information to the new system (I've just completed Go North East's 7092 and 7093 today). By the time we have everything for Go North East, Arriva and Stagecoach in the new system, there'll always be a nice variety of content shown under the "Treasures from our Archives" section. Some enthusiasts have been around taking photos for a very long time so you'll see that some of the photos on the older articles are from the same person(s), but I do try my best to pick good quality photos from different people.

It is definitely something I am going to be doing on a weekly basis on this thread, and I would like other members to participate also and hopefully generate discussions on various items members have listed for each week.
I am looking forward to seeing the new Bygone Era as I used that a lot to come with my Service Suggestions, and the new features to the site are certainly a welcomed addition as I often look through old photos of Buses from the past in there various liveries on Flickr.
I really really like this idea. A nice mix of recent and maybe older stuff to cater for all.
Innovative thinking !
There is already a Throwback Thursday thread somewhere on the forum.
It hasn't been used for a while, but the themes would tie in.
Maybe just a case of merging and renaming?

Think the "Throwback Thursday" thread would be better left as it is, as it covers a lot of different topics from different areas.
I did however find a thread called "Photo Showcase" created by Adrian which seems to run to a similar theme as to what I have created above.

Nevertheless there is no harm in adding further to what I have already suggested to make this thread more interesting.
Good Idea Malarks...
I look forward to seeing this thread blossom 😀

Another week has past rather slowly in my opinion due unusually having my two allocated days off during the week, rather than on a weekend like they usually are, and I am already knackered before the new week has even begun, working what was today my 2nd day in out of 7 in a row before I finish working at Sitel for good, nevertheless lets see what happened this week in years gone by.
Firstly we are going to take very short trip back a few days to Friday 8th July 2016, where we head to Alpha Recovery on Weetslade Road in Cramlington. The photo below show various vehicles from various operators which are no longer in active service and are in the process of being scrapped, a sad sight it must be said but we still have the pleasure of photographing these wonderful vehicles across the country, no where near to being fully extinct just yet.

Sticking with the July 8th theme we head back to 2015, and to Sunderland's Stagecoach Wheatsheaf Depot where we see 19643 (SP60 DSU) being prepared for service ahead of transferring to South Shields for the X34 (Harton Nook to Newcastle).
https://www.flickr.com/photos/adammalark...a9B-vKTp1x
We now head back to July 9th 2014 and out of the North East to West Yorkshire, but still keeping a North Easterly theme to the photo. We at Leeds Railway Station and former Go North East Demonstrator 9133 (YJ62 FFB) is seen in operation with Yorkshire Tiger on there Service 62 to Shipley Market Place, 9133 is now currently in operation with Transdev.

Back to the North East via the A1 and we land at the ever dull and boring Gateshead Interchange on July 6th 2013, where we see former Cobalt Clipper Mercedes Citaro 5337 (HF06 FUA) on loan to Gateshead Depot, on the 96 to the MetroCentre.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/adammalarkey/9222425701/
Still stuck in 2013, we finally head to Central Station in Newcastle on July 10th 2013 where we see former Lime Volvo B10BLE Wright Renown 4902 (W902 RBB) making a rare appearance on the Red Kite service 45 to Consett.

Well, I'm now back from my week's holiday in Blackpool. I seem to be there a fair amount of time with me often having a week's holiday around this sort of time each year, as such two years ago to the date, we see Oakwood Travel (who we now know as Catch22Bus) Volvo B6BLE/Wright Crusader W601CWX (ex Transdev) at Mereside Tesco operating service 22 to Cleveleys.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/127079988@...datetaken/
Back on July 12th 2015, we see Alexander Dennis Enviro 400MMC demonstrator YY64GWX on trial at Go North East's Crook depot, this photo was taken on it's first day out in passenger service during it's demonstration period at GNE.

Apologies that the photo quality may not be as good on some of the photos that I may contribute to this thread, some of these will have been taken before upgrading to better cameras.
So a few from this week in history.
On 18th July 2013, I photographed Wright Streetlite DF/Max demonstrator
9132 LK13AEJ on the 58. Along with Optare Versa V1170
9133 YJ62FFB, 9132 had a lengthy demonstration period with Go North East, but unlike 9133, it spent the majority of it's time on service 58.

Also in the same week, I photographed Go North East's Volvo B7TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini
3964 NK06JXC. 3964 was fresh out of the paint shop at Saltmeadows Road, prior to a period where it wore several advertising liveries, including Real Radio and Children in Need.

I'm think I'm going to stop putting titles and descriptions on my photos on Flickr as I'm making too many typos. Now updated the title and description on Flickr.

You maybe want to check the years out too.
You certain that Spectra photo was in 2015?

I didn't want to rub it in too much, but aye - that one was out too.
29th August 2014. Following the award of Nexus contracts to operate school bus services Gateshead Central Taxis acquired their first double deck vehicle LR52KVW.
30th August 2014. Go North East started a trial of a Wright Streetlite on the Lime 8/78 services having previously carried out an evaluation of a Mercedes Citaro Demonstrator. The nominated Streetlite was Drifter branded 5375.
30th August 2015. Following the award of additional Nexus school bus contracts Gateshead Central Taxis needed to acquire additional vehicles. The vehicles that arrived to start these contracts were Dennis Tridents that had previously been with Geldards Coaches of Leeds. Geldards had gone into administration a few weeks previously.
As the title says, This week in Photos
and History, I thought I could add something in that doesn't have to be historic.
I'm now back on Flickr again after a quite lengthy break, Seen in Witton Gilbert on Service 15 to Durham is Go North East's 6012
