On the stagecoach.mybesthost website the section that relates to service changes advises that there is to be another set of major changers to the Sunderland network from January 2017 and hints at an "Xciting" new route to be introduced.
Interesting!!!

Xuanadu?
Most services to be retimed. One increase in frequancy, one service withdrawn and part replaced by another. One new express service linking two operating areas that aren't already linked.

Not bad then, the way i heard it, it was all cuts to services... i take that the timings is just services running earlier or later than now (so if they run at 8:12am, it'll now run at 8:15am as an example)

Wonder which service will be having the frequancy increase? Wink

I do know which service is going... but everyone will have to wait and see for that one.

Basically yes, odd minute taken from one point and added to another to iron the scheduled out.

My guess is: Extending the 4 to Boldon Asda and then onto Newcastle alongside the X34?

No, you have a place right but way out on the route, reasonable idea for a guess but look how bad GNE did with X36.

Last I heard was the service was going via Chester road and A19 between Sunderland and Newcastle, might of been changed since.

There was talks of extending the 30 to Fellgate like it used to. And the X20 an additional express to Newcastle

BUT the changes being discussed are for Sunderland depot not shields depot which the 30 and X20 operate out of  also 'deleted'  has more or less von firmed that this is happening in January

Going back to this...

I do wonder which service is getting its frequency increased?

Also wonder what buses will be used on this new express?, i would imagine, this new service will be hourly (Monday to Saturday daytime only), then if popular extended to evening and Sunday

Maybe move the posts about the changes in Sunderland to the upcoming changes thread? (just so its not spamming the latest news thread)

I would chance to say the 5 maybe inline for an increase to every 20 minutes? using one of the buses off the withdrawn service 8. Hopefully the new express wont be allocated E200s.

I wouldn't be surprised if service 20 gets split on Hylton road with half doing the pennywell shops circular and other half turning right and going to south Hylton to replace service 8, there was a mention in the air that service 5 will retain the 30 minute route between Chester road and town but hourly from Chester road to gilley law while the other does hourly from Chester road to south Hylton via Holborn road, Helmsdale road (old 13/14 terminus) Hylton road to south Hylton, soon find out more info when the changes appear on VOSA in a couple of weeks.
