Direct Rail Services (DRS) are hosting their annual charity open day at Carlisle Kingmoor depot this year, on Saturday 22nd July 2017 (ie this Saturday).

Doors will be open 1000-1600. £5 entry on the gate.
Easiest way to get there will be on the Stagecoach in Cumbria 76 from Carlisle City Centre/Courts (for Rail Station) to the Redfern Inn. Walk back along the bus and turn right at the T junction - continue along this road over the railway line and you'll find the depot sign!

Plenty on display, including a look around various cabs and interiors of DRS' fleet. Face painting for the kids, also a naming of a locomotive.
A raffle will be drawn on the hour for the chance to start up a locomotive also.

If you can, please do pop along. Smile
I would go but already spent my money on VTEC for Monday Sad
I'm told that northern156 will be providing a barbecue - there's an incentive to go, if his post did not persuade you!

There will be no barbecue. Mostly due to the fact I'm not paying for one.

As an aside, a hog roast van normally appears with various other burger vans. In previous years the food has been lovely.
I went to the open day at Kingmoor today, and I have to say it was a fantastic day out - despite the weather! There was loads to see, the chance to get inside of some loco cabs and plenty of trade stalls. There were loads of DRS staff working voluntarily at the open day, and a credit to them how well organised it all was.

I'd go again for sure. Smile
Been a fantastic day today. Early indications suggesting we raised circa £35k for charity which is astonishing, given the weather.
