Well it's in Tyne and Wear so must count
Ok so am assuming I can't start from Hartlepool so that rules 24 out. So X6 from Dalton Park to Seaham. Then 60 to Sunderland. Fab 56 to to Gateshead then X66 to Metro centre. Does that work.
Can anybody issue a challenge if so Hartlepool to Hexham and Back and can't be some both ways has to be 4 changes only each way and must include Stockton or Middlesbrough.

Durham isn't in T&W. It's in Co Durham.
The rules
Name a village/town or city in Tyne & Wear where to travel to the Metrocentre, it will take more than one change.
It can be any combination of operators. Doesn't have to be limited to just one.
Wrekenton - Metrocentre (56 and X66) so wouldn't count.
Fatfield Riverside - Metrocentre (4, 27, X66), so would count.
(Obviously the X88 is an option on a weekend from the galleries).

It Has the river wear running though it though so therefore must count as Tyne and Wear.

Service 1 Hartlepool to Middlesbrough
X12 Middlesbrough to Newcastle
10 Newcastle to Hexham.
Return
685 Hexham to Newcastle
X9/10 Newcastle to Middlesbrough
36 Middlesbrough to Hartlepool

Nice try. We don't even have the benefit of Nexus down here, though. The southernmost bit of Tyne & Wear on the A167 is Barley Mow.

Ok nice what about if I make so only Newcastle can be used there or back.

Do Sunderland and Chester le street count then
21 Angel of North to Gateshead.
Q1 Gateshead to Central Station
10 Central station to Metro centre
Fancy having a go of my challenge

Sunderland is wearside, so yes. Chester le Street is County Durham, so no.
On the 20 route, East Rainton is Sunderland but West Rainton is Durham.
You can't even use the postcode as a clue because Peterlee is SR but Hetton le Hole is DH.

Ah but you're choosing to not get the X66 or 49 from Gateshead.
The point is of the game is where you don't have an option other than to make more than one change.

Hill Park Estate to Metrocentre
10 Hill Park to Jarrow
26/27 Jarrow to Gateshead
X66 Gateshead to Metrocente.
More than one change..... The title of the challenge.

Well done! I'd have suggested a walk to get the 26 or 27 to Gateshead, but I think you have found another example.

If you live at the back end of Hill Park you won't want the walk to Jarrow.... And if walking on the return let's hope your not too laidened with all the heavy bags of shopping. That's a steep hill Cemetry Bank.
Was about to suggest Albany but the good old X22 scuppered that one again. Don't even have to go as far back as Durham for it since the 50 will drop you off in Chester.

Washington Village. I think...

There has to be be some points on the indigo 8- routes where it would take a reasonably fit walker rather than your average bod to happily link up with the 8, 21 or 50.

And like ifm001 said, not pleasant with bags of shopping!

Quite. I can walk along to the Arnison centre from home. All of 25 minutes. I can't bring more than a couple of days' groceries home again, on foot, though. Less if I buy wine
(28 Oct 2018, 9:30 pm)Andreos1 wrote [ -> ]Doxford Park in the Morrison's area, as opposed to Doxford International.
I reckon apart from Blackfell, there will be a few other places in Washington that jump out (excluding the industrial estates). Ayton for example.
A number of places not on the Durham Road, Stockton Road or Hylton Road corridors should have to incur a couple of changes I reckon.
Anywhere on those roads, all have a direct link to Gateshead or Durham.
Few I can think of:
Blackfell & Oxclose - 85/86 > 56/X1 > X66
Washington Village - 84 > 56/X1 > X66
Parts of Greater Usworth - 4 > 56/X1 > X66
Mount Pleasant (controversial, but was a District!) - 4 > 56/X1 > X66
But I suppose it comes down to how far you expect to walk... e.g. the village is a village, but it'd take you 10 minutes to walk to the other end of Spout Lane for the 56. Same with Mount Pleasant and walking to Harraton Community Centre.
Blackfell is probably the most genuine example.
These are without changing outside Tyne and Wear (effectively using a Network One T&W pass) and very little walking.
South Tyneside Area - Whitburn / East Boldon / Cleadon / The Lonnen / Biddick Hall / The Lawe / Pier Head - Basically a bus to S Shields, then to Gateshead / Newcastle, then to Metrocentre.
Sunderland Area - Witherwack, Hylton Castle (right in the estate), Doxford Park, Ryhope Green, Seaburn, Pallion, Downhill, Fulwell - Bus to Sunderland, then to as above.
Houghton Area - Low Moorsley, Sheriff Moor Estate, East Rainton - Bus to Hetton / Houghton then to Washington / Gateshead / Newcastle then to Metrocentre.
With regards to Washington area posted by Adrian, there is only one change required at a weekend.
Correct me if im wrong but you can get x34 from biddick hall to Gateshead or Newcastle?
Bit of a Walk from the far end of Biddick Hall estate around Sheridan Road end.
Ahh ok, don't know the area that well I was once seeing a lass from there.
Well this game has become a bit easier, with the loss of the X22 and the x88.
Ok here's a challenge. Hartlepool to Newcastle Eldon Square then Hexham. Then return to Newcastle Eldon Square and back to Hartlepool without using anymore than 9 buses and no service or destination other than Eldon Square can be used twice. X9/X10 can also not be used. Let's see how many of you can do it.

Outbound
1 Hartlepool to Middlesbrough
X12 Middlesbrough to Newcastle Eldon Square
X84 Eldon Square to Hexham
Return
10 Hexham to Eldon Square
X1 Eldon Square to Hetton le Hole interchange
55 Hetton to Peterlee
24 Peterlee to Hartlepool

Hartlepool - Coxhoe (57)
Coxhoe - Newcastle (X12)
Newcastle - Hexham (X84)
Hexham - Newcastle (10)
Newcastle - Durham (X21)
Durham - Hartlepool (24)
or
Hartlepool - Sunderland (23)
Sunderland - Newcastle (56)
Newcastle - Hexham (685)
Hexham - Newcastle (74)
Newcastle - Middlesbrough (X12)
Middlesbrough - Hartlepool (1)
or

Newcastle - Hexham (10)
Hexham - Newcastle (685)
Newcastle Monument - Central (Metro Yellow Line - enter via Eldon Square)
Central - York (Train)
York - Hartlepool (Train)
You didn't say no trains for the last or Eldon Square bus station
There's loads of combinations haha.

Can't get 56 though as it don't go into Eldon Square plus you going though Durham Twice

Oh wait just realised it's 9 buses not 6 buses facepalm. That's quite easy tbf.
Hartlepool - Middlesbrough (1)
Middlesbrough - Darlington (X66)
Darlington - Tow Law (X1)
Tow Law - Consett (764)
Consett - Eldon Square (X30)
Eldon Square - Hexham (74)
Hexham - Eldon Square (685)
Eldon Square - Durham (21)
Durham - Hartlepool (24)
Why not make it a day trip around the North East, not sure you could do it in one day mind or it'll be very tight if it is doable. If I'm right I haven't 100% checked, it shouldn't serve any places twice at all though bar Eldon Square.

Here's a challenge back for you, same rules apply but it's now 8 buses or less Hartlepool -> Eldon Square -> Hexham and the reverse. This time an added rule is you can't use any bus service which serves Gateshead Interchange, that's regardless to whether you travel through it or not. Oh and buses only, no coaches or trains. Split routes are 1 for this, so the X12 is Middlesbrough to Newcastle not Middlesbrough -> Durham -> Newcastle.
It is doable

Either through Durham and consett when the 689(?) is running a full Saturday timetable or head via Sunderland, get the x24 which goes nowhere near Gateshead interchange, then Newcastle to Hexham to do it in 6 buses there and back.
