With the electric vehicles being exactly that, will they be placed in a batch of seperate fleet numbers, or will they continue the existing sequence?

The Yutong won’t be used in service, just for testing of the charging infrastructure of the depot.

Looks like they'll be using Mobitec destination displays on the Yutongs rather than the usual Hanover displays. Is this due to a compatibility issue or are we likely to see a switch over to Mobitec displays with new orders?

I assume that means the NSA system will be different as well, unless they're using a Hanover NSA with Mobitec blinds?

This gonna sound dumb as out, but whats the difference between the Mobitec destination displays and the Hanover displays?

Different manufacturer, companies such as Transdev use Mobitec displays.
Does anyone what fleet numbers the electric buses will gain?

I would think they'd carries on the 83** series on or start off a new ones of 84**.

Not that long ago since we had the 84xx series. The ex OK Travel darts so be unusual for them to reuse that series so soon.

Is there a reason they wouldn't just carry on from the E200s, or just start the 55** series?

They're not full length buses, they're shorter ones like the current Saltwell Park Streetlites I believe. Midibuses being 8*** series rather than the full size 5*** series.

Ah yes, I thought the E10 was the full length one, but that's the E12
The E10 is 10.8m and the E12 is 12m, hence the names!

The ex OK buses mentioned were Volvo B6's not Darts.
Is the electric TfL bus at the back of Riverside the one for testing out the charging equipment or the Metrocity on trial.. if that’s still here?
The region’s first latest generation, zero-emissions, full electric buses are also set to enter service at the end of next month, operating around Newcastle and Gateshead.

So when are we expecting to see GNE 'flip the switch' on VOLTRA?

Pretty sure what hype they managed to build (probably all of 2 people) has completely died now. The amount of people responding to the announcement tweet with 'What's Voltra' was comical.

No offence to whoever made it, but the coming soon video is crap and the music doesn't suit it in the slightest. As if any non-enthusiast is going to get excited over a finger flicking a switch or a picture of the front of a bus getting bigger with the word VOLTRA over the top.

I expected something to happen on Clean Air Day, but all we got was a note on the bottom of a press release saying buses are arriving next month.

Surely they at least have some renderings of the new buses like they did for the E400/StreetDeck announcement to show off
According to the news... the Saltwell Park Streetlites have had the branding has been modified to include promotional messaging towards "VOLTRA".

Do we know/have any idea where the StreetLites will go? Aren’t these slightly smaller than the others?

Maybe onto some of the older Versa operated routes, Perhaps the M6/7/8 and 69 etc.

There's 17 Omnicities at Chester Le Street and Riverside then the 5 Mercedes on the Citylink 57.

Then you've got the 9 new electrics plus the 13 ex Consett B9TL's which are currently on the 26/27 so there's 22 buses spare there.

Wouldn't be surprised to see something like:

B9TL's - 93 / 94 still maybe + 25/13 (PVR 13)
Streetlites - 57 (PVR 5)

Displaced Versa's and the other 3 Streetlites replace the remaining spare Omnicities between the 2 depots which are often on the 28 and Quaylinks.

Then the next batch of the electrics on the 58 with that batch of Versas seeing off the remaining Citaros at Riverside.

Plus a very large number of older buses that should have been withdrawn but have been kept to run the school extras (56 or 60 buses used as extras I recall being mentioned)

Wonder when they'll finally withdraw all the buses not needed.... be interesting to see if anyone has the money to buy them.

--------

Can anyone confirm what fleet numbers the Electric buses will be, since they should start to arrive in the next couple of weeks Tongue

Don't see why they wouldn't be the 8xxx series, unless they're going to do an electric series, which would be short sighted imo.
Note the silver grab handles on the doors, and the seemingly brown interior. That and the external base livery doesn't exactly scream GNE. Was it confirmed these are GNE's?

Don't forget what looks like green flooring!

Maybe they're going for the tree aesthetic
