Just curious does anyone know where the government grants went in terms of upgrading buses to Euro 6 in the North East never seen it mentioned anyway but I believe the following have been confirmed:
- GNE 5/50/50A Omnicities
- GNE 56, 309/310/311, X1 B9TL's
- Arriva 306 Pulsars
- Arriva 308 Geminis
- Arriva 52/53/54 Streetlites
Does anyone know what else has been done as I believe there was funding for roughly 200 buses in Tyneside over 2 years, I'm guessing more at Arriva Jesmond and Blyth depots, GNE Riverside depot and Stagecoach's Walkergate and Slatyford depots

19641-19644 at the Sunderland depot
Most are done for Newcastle CAZ. the omnicities were I think founded by South Tyneside council

Never thought about them, yeah they are for the Newcastle CAZ. The breakdown was with a note it's for routes on the Coast Road and Tyne Bridge pollution points:
- Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council - 79
- North Tyneside Council - 69
- South Tyneside Council - 29
- Newcastle City Council - 43
I'm guessing the X34 ones have come under the S. Tyneside lot but there's still stuff missing there aswell. I know the X63 and 22 have come from N. Tyneside's pot for the Coast Road (20 buses) but it leaves 49 buses there.
Haven't done the maths but imagine the 79 at Gateshead buses is pretty much the whole of Riverside depot (excluding Mercs and things already Euro 6).
Edit just found a document for North Tyneside and it's the following:
- GoNorthEast (22 Buses) - Q3, 309, 310, 311
- Arriva (27 Buses) - 51, 306, 308 (Solos done?)
- Stagecoach (20 Buses) - 22, X63
Be interesting to see if that has changes on changes in the future as can't see N Tyneside being amused with the Versas they've been funded been moved away after a year or so or whether they're going to be stuck like the Scania's on the Loop.
All of the E300 diesels at Wheatsheaf have been done.

Are 27723 - 27725 and Stocktons ADL E300s getting a Euro 6 upgrade as well?
I wonder if there is anything planned for 27726-40 as they have received a Euro 6 upgrade? Stagecoach seem to be in a rush to get them all repainted when there are several other buses with outdated branding / that have never had a repaint yet, and Sunderland City Council haven't yet announced any plans for a clean air / low emissions zone. Maybe, if Stagecoach cannot find a replacement for the MAN ALX300s at Slatyford by the time the Newcastle clean air / low emissions zone comes into effect could 27726-40 be transferred there with Sunderland getting the MAN ALX300s?

I thought myself that the E300s might be leaving Sunderland with them being repainted so quickly. Could Sunderland be in line for some new vehicles possibly? I know the new vehicle order had been scaled back but them ALX300s are in desperate need of replacement soon, they must be some of the oldest single deckers left in the whole Stagecoach fleet.

Don't they serve the E buses mainly? If so could be part of the South Tyneside funding, the 5/50 got done as part of it and they don't run anywhere near Newcastle. Just assumptions there though.

There are usually 3 or 4 MAN E200s (which are Euro 4) on the E's every day alongside the ADL E300s and I doubt these will receive Euro 6 modifications due to their age and reliability.
Also, are Gas Buses 28001-17 (which are Euro 5) receiving a Euro 6 upgrade? As these also now make more of a regular appearance on the E's.

It looks like The MAN 18:220 ALX300s at Stagecoach North East are the only MAN 18:220 ALX300s left in service in the whole of Stagecoach Group. So the replacement of these is well and truly overdue.
However, I'm sure there are still some MAN 18:240 ALX300s still in service in Yorkshire.
£50-a-day Newcastle clean air tolls will NOT happen in January as council finally confirms delay
https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/nor...Jhx9_3lYCo
We knew this would happen, but least its confirmed.
I couldn't find the thread about the clean air zone... so if a mod can, please move it over.
It was mentioned on BBC Look North this afternoon that the Newcastle Clean Air / Low Emissions Zone will now be launching later this year.
Will Stagecoach be upgrading the exhausts on the remaining MAN ALX300s and older ADL E400s at Walkergate and Slatyford, or will the vehicles be swapped around assuming no new buses are on order?
The owners of any bus that does not meet the clean air / low emissions requirements will be charged which I assume is what all bus companies want to avoid.
