Given the Toon Tour isn't above 4 on Trip Advisor (4.2 and above is seen as the golden number), it's got to take any good publicity it can.....
wasn't it a twitter poll...

Publicity that the public see's, or some meaningless back patting from the enthusiast community, that the public won't see, unless GNE advertise the fact they've had the enthusiast back-patting?

I suppose the Chronicle is only read by bus enthusiasts, so this publicity will do them no good.

There is nothing like free advertisement, especially of the good variety.
FROM GNE ENTHUSIAST AREA

'Repaints last week included open-top format Volvo B9TL/Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 6996 (LIG 9116) into Toon Tour livery.'

Must of acquired this from Oxford, wonder if there is going to be another?
Oxford did have 2 of them. They were new to Go-Ahead London but were sold out of the group to City Tours, London and were then acquired by the Oxford Bus Company. Remains to be seen if there is just going to be the two of them and any subsitutes will be closed top B9TLs (6101 mainly).

Ive seen other open tops on the market, they could have purchased those as spares.

Presumably an internal transfer from another Go-Ahead subsidiary would be better value than buying from outside of the Group.

Plus the Volvo B9TL is a vehicle familer to most engineers in the company.

Sadly, Go North East were given incorrect information about the ex Oxford Volvo B9TL vehicles, being told that they were Euro VI compliant.

Wait wait wait, so these open top B9s are NOT euro 6, yet the old ex-London Presidents they replaced, were?
