Is there a big asterisk on the branding after Durham.
Just in case anyone tries to get to Durham on a Sunday…

How many gimmicks has this bus had over its 16 years in service?

X10, X9/X10, fake TEN, plain red, 2016 corporate livery, roadstripe corporate livery, and now this. It must struggle to get over.
Don't think that brand is doing either of those buses any favours. Obviously GNE can't do much about the Metrocentre's rebrand to the late 90s, but the front of 3942 looks dreary. Similarly the rear of 3941, that neon green and dark blue with that font, just looks out of place.

I don't think the grey/blue version on 3942 looks too bad, at least compared to the toxic green of 3941.
Maybe we can get all the plants, market barrow stalls and fountains back, to accompany this 90s throw back? I'd have said Metroland too, but I think Consett has more chance of getting a Metro extension...
3941has entered service in its Metrocentre Express livery.

3942 has entered service, first being on scholars and when I last checked was on the X21

The X22 runs onto a scholars then an extra peak-time X21 journey.

Metrocentre Shuttle or Metrocentre Express...?

Metrocentre Shuttle is for X66
Metrocentre Express is for X22
(Because that’s what they are…!)
And there will be some increased promotion of the ‘Metrocentre Link’ on all the services which provide a service approx up to every 5 min between Newcastle and Metrocentre (6, 10/A/B, 47, X45/6).

Says Metrocentre Shuttle on the front of them.

Very observant (especially difficult to notice on that photograph!)
Should be Metrocentre Express.

As much as I like this livery style, on the lighter colours like on the Geminis, they should have used a colour font that contrasted more with the background as the white is difficult to read.
On the plus side, least 3942 doesn't look like it's dragging its rear end around now.

Does 3941 not have the 'up to' disclaimer above the Every Hour, Every Day part?
Though branding 'Every Hour, Every Day Just Not To Durham On Sundays' isn't as catchy I guess

yes good promotion anyways, but especially since Stagecoach 100 is still suspended due to shortage of drivers. At this rate people will get soo used to using GNE they maybe might not go back to Stagecoach, unless they are connecting from stagecoach as it'll be cheaper.
Despite the frankly, revolting, mustard brown smeared panels on the interior of 3941, it felt like a massive upgrade from the awful omnideckers that used to be regular on the X22, when I caught it, last week.

I thought the same to be honest, although I quite like the interior!

Had 3941 on the X21 today and I must say it was a lovely ride. Suspension is nice and smooth, it was relatively rattle free, and sound of the engine was quite relaxing.
I did notice it's got speakers in the ceiling but no NSA system, what's the story behind that?

Think they're for a PA system.
When new for the X10, the buses also used to play either Metro FM or TFM.

I don't think so why paint 2 buses create timetables for a service which lasted 2 months.

Well there is that... But it tended to be the patter they used when a vaguely useful new service was introduced and then withdrawn a few months later.
Just wondered whether the X22 was classed as experimental too.
