Following on from my South Tyneside posts yesterday, I've tried to make the routing a bit clearer.

You aren't going to get a bus down Green's Place either.

Which way does the 516 go, it'll just follow that.

Just a thought which is borne out of my major bugbear at the moment and relates to the current network as much as your proposed routes.

How many of those routes go near the major employers within South Tyneside at the times and days the employees are heading back and forth?

Extend it to Morpeth via Stannington Station, Hepscott Park and Stobhill and you'd have a decent service. Although it may be best placed in the Haymarket or Eldon Square rather than Clayton Street.
A few new suggestions, some a bit of a punt:

New Service 3 (Up to Every 20 Mins): Heworth, Ellen Wilknson Estate, Lingey Lane, Usworth, Concord, The Galleries, Lambton, Ayton, Barley Mow, Portobello, Birtley, Lansbury Drive, Lamsley, Team Valley. (Would replace GNE 82 between Birtley & Washington)

Existing Service 4: Unchanged

New Services 5 & 5A (Up to Every 15 Mins): Coach Road Estate, Donwell (Bus Link), Concord, London Avenue (5A), B&Q (5), Blackfell, Oxclose, The Galleries, Glebe, Fatfield, Penshaw, Shiney Row, Barnwell

New Services 6 & 6A (Up to Every 15 Mins):
Concord, Peel Retail Park, Barmston, Brady Square (6), Biddick (6), Washington Village (6A), Glebe (6A), The Galleries, Lambton (Cambrian Way), Harraton, Rickleton

New Service 7 (Up to Every 30 Mins): See Attachment (Would replace 82 between Galleries & Waterview Park, another service would serve Washington Village)
For the Consett/CLS allocations, I'd go:

E400 (6338-51)
- 3x Consett X30/X31
- 2x Consett Spare
- 9x CLS X21

SD G2 (6331-33)
- 3x CLS (spare or extras for 21 if needed?)

B5TL (6308-14 & 6334-35)
- 7x Consett X45/X71/X72
- 2x Consett* X45/X71/X72

*Ex-dealer stock, 6338-39 allocated instead if not needed on X30/X31

SD G3 - 7x freed up for other use

I would create a new express service between Newcastle, Washington Galleries, CLS, Durham & Bowburn Amazon. Maybe allocate some of the streetdecks to that.

Isn’t there already a high freq bus service from Newcastle to Washington galleries, and a half hourly bus service from Washington galleries to Durham via Chester-le-street, and a bus service between Durham and bowburn on Arriva service 56/57/x12, wouldn’t your suggestion copy these existing routes?

Where would the drivers come from as well, as GNE are short on drivers.

After these changes they won’t be

These are only “proposed” changes and not set in stone, just that GNE can’t be bothered to run them commercially and want the tax payer to fund them

There still be short of drivers after if any services gets reduced , adding more bus services and routes is still going to put back the drivers situation back to square one with lists of cancellations for the following day

Would increasing the 50 to every 20 mins be enough to cover losing both the 82 & 84 through Lambton, Ayton, Harraton & Rickleton.

You could run it down to Bowburn Amazon if there is enough layover time.

I think the 50 should run standalone.

The 24/25(new 5) /26 South Shields Rider (which 26 & 5 being redone)

With the 24 being every 15 mins, 1 can go onto the 26, another one the 5
New Express Route Idea :

Same as ANE X12 (Newcastle - Harlow Green), Extra stop for Angel of The North
Via A1 to Washington Galleries
Via A1231 & A19 to Dalton Park.
Via Cold Helesdon, Easington Village & Essington Way to Peterlee (All Stops)
Via A19 to Wolviston Interchange
Via Wolviston Road & Roseberry Road to Billingham (All Stops)
Same as SNE Tees 34 (Billingham Town Centre - Newport Bridge - Middlesbrough (All Stops)

Journey Times:
NCL - Washington: Approx 30-35 Mins (Similar to GNE X1)
NCL - Peterlee: Approx 60-65 Mins (Similar to GNE X10)
Peterlee - Mboro: Approx 45-50 Mins (Similar to GNE X10)
NCL - Mboro: Approx 1hr 45 Mins (Similar to GNE X10)
A few fictional services I've had in mind are:

219: Peterlee Bus Station - Shotton Colliery - Wingate King's Road - Vicarage Estate - Station Town - Hutton Henry - A19 - Wolviston - Billingham - Norton High Street - Norton Road - Stockton High Street - B6541 - Middlesbrough Bus Station
Basically similar to the old 211 route (https://www.northeastbuses.co.uk/bygone/...st2009.pdf) but additionally stopping in Shotton Colliery, Hutton Henry (in both directions) and Stockton.

X90 (coach service) - Darlington - Newton Aycliffe - Rushyford - A689 - A1(M) - Bowburn - Shincliffe - Durham University - Durham City Centre - Framwellgate Moor - Chester-le-Street - A1 - A184 - Newcastle Coach Station
Basically gives Darlington and Newton Aycliffe a direct bus link to Newcastle. The number comes from the service from Darlington to Newcastle previously run by Stagecoach (https://www.northeastbuses.co.uk/bygone/...st2000.pdf). Would also work as a faster alternative to service 7 between Darlington and Durham, and gives Durham University and Bowburn a direct service to and from Newton Aycliffe and Darlington.

89 - Bishop Auckland - Coundon B6287 - Leeholme - Windsor Terrace - A689 - Rushyford - Chilton - A689 - Bradbury - Sedgefield - A689 - Wynyard The Meadows - Wynyard Wood - The Wynd - Wellington Drive - Wolviston - Billingham - Marsh House Avenue - A689 - Greatham - A689 - B1277 - Hartlepool Victoria Road - Hartlepool Marina
Gives Chilton and Sedgefield a more frequent, more direct link to Bishop Auckland. Also gives Sedgefield a link to Billingham and Hartlepool, and gives a link to Wynyard and Wolviston, which do not currently have a regular bus service. The route number "89" is derived from the A689, and is a separate service from the existing 89 from Bishop Auckland to Escomb.

So your 219 is basically the x9 route , which in turn was the 211 route when there purchased ok travel, running both directions in Hutton Henry won’t work as the bus can’t get over the island to go southbound on a19 due to a19 traffic, this is why buses were pulled off going eastbound at Hutton Henry, GNE didn’t favour the new x9 via 211 route through wingate as it will add too much timing issues will occur, since the x10 covers the x9 route through billingham etc, there’s no need for the 219 route, there’s little or no demand at present to extend the freq , also bus companies are presently and in nearest future services will be getting reduced to cover the high running costs, bus companies are businesses and if there start losing profits then services will be getting reduced and getting the taxpayers to fund the services.

New 101: Clara Vale - Crawcrook - Ryton Village - Ryton - Stargate - Blaydon - Swalwell - Dunston - Newcastle (Hourly)

New 102: High Spen - Barlow - Winlaton - Hole In The Wall - Blaydon - Swalwell - Dunston - Newcastle (Hourly)

New 103: Rowlands Gill - Sherburn Towers - Sherburn Park - Winlaton Mill - Winlaton - Parkhead Estate - Blaydon Bank - Blaydon - Scotswood Road - Newcastle (Hourly)

Reasoning
Half Hourly Service Between Blaydon, Swalwell, Dunston & Newcastle on 101 & 102.
Direct Buses from Chopwell, Coalburns, Rockwood Hill, Folly, Woodside, Greenside, Crawcrook & Ryton to Scotswood Road.
Direct Buses from Sherburn Towers, Sherburn Park, Winlaton Mill, Gibside View, Coalburns, Clara Vale, Ryton Village, Stargate, Barlow & Hole In The Wall to Newcastle.
Regular Services to Market Lane & Kingsmeadow School on 101 & 102.
Future Streamlining of R1-R6 Routes.
More Seats Compared to R1, R3/R4 & R6.
Less Taxpayers Money Used to Fund Services.
Cheaper Fares Than on Existing R Routes.
Would Bring Wi-Fi, NSA & USB Charging & PAYG Fares to R Routes.

Service 427: Morpeth Rail station - Morpeth Bus Station - Pegswood - Longhirst - Longhirst Station - Linton Colliery - Ellington - Lynemouth - Woodhorn - Wansbeck Hospital - Ashington - Bothal - Pegswood - Morpeth Bus Stattion - Morpeth Rail Station

I am open up to further suggestions as well
Bothal is easy enough to serve as part of a 35 variation. Several 35s have diverted through there and up the bank recently during A197 closures.

I believe Cresswell, Ellington, Lynemouth and Linton already have a minibus service to Morpeth on market days.
I think It would be easy to serve Bothal with a varation of the 35 at a reduced frequency.

And as for the minibus I have not heard of such a service. I am not doubting such service exits, But is there a timetable available.

The minibus was operated by WATBus on the behalf of CELL Big Local, who also provided funding to extend the Sunday service on the 1 to Lynemouth, Cresswell and Ellington.

I've checked and the service ended in December 2018.
