This might be a long shot, does anyone know the fonts used on the attached GNE timetable. I want to replicate this design but with various different colours and my own services.

Might not be an exact match but looks similar to the Gill Sans font family, which was a pretty popular choice in the 00s.
This might be a long shot, does anyone have a pdf copy of the old GNE 186, i latest copy i can find in the bygone era is dated for 2001, i need a more recent copy than that.

Blimey that takes me back son
Hi all,

I’m looking for timetables (if not available then frequency and route description) for the following routes:

GNE (Pink Panther) D4 Durham - Arnison Centre. I have a route map of it, but no timetable.

Kimberley Coaches/Tyne Blue Line X63 Hexham to Metrocentre (I believe). I have the 603 timetable.

St George’s Travel - C1/C2 Washington circulars?

Redby - 535 when it competed with 35?

Redby/Wearside Bus Compang. 394 when did this run to Newcastle? The TWPTE timetables just have it Heworth - Washington, but photos also show it in Newcastle.

Queries:

Aside for the 394 (except Redby routes) did the Wearside Bus Company run any other services?

Does anyone have a list of the routes ran by Calvary Coaches as well? I’ve got timetables for 294, 297, and Waterside in the TWPTE guides.

Thanks in advance.

The only one I can answer with any certainty.

For a period in the early 90s, they ran an hourly service which competed with the 194.
If I remember right, it was numbered the 13. It was scheduled to pick up outside Biddick and St Roberts dead on kicking out time.
Wear Buses as it was at the time, whacked an Optare Metrorider in front of it as a spoiler 194.

I'm sure the shortlived Barnwell to Newcastle 191 was the legacy.
Thanks Andreos,

Just two of follow up questions for clarity:
  • Did the 13 follow the 194 route exactly I.e. Heworth - Concord - Washington - Fatfield - Newbottle - HLS - Easington Lane?
  • Did it only run Monday to Saturday? (From your recollection?)

It didn't run the full route.
Can't remember if it finished at Penshaw or Houghton. But didn't go all the way to Easington Lane.

Often ran with a dual-door mk1 National though!

Wearside bus company (Redby) Service 13 operated from Houghton Church bus stop, same as wear buses dupe 194 operated by metro riders and nationals and anything else the depot could lay its hands on.

Redby used the Wearside bus company name as there said that when Northern split the depots to independent brands like Wear Buses it was too similar to there Wearside bus company brand.

Wearside bus company started to run services again in front of Wear buses with the 42/26 etc… with some journeys running the full length for through travel between silksworth and pennywell.

Cheers for this, really good to learn some of the backstory.

I have the 42 down as Sunderland - Tunstall - Hollycarrside - Silksworth - Shiney Row - Washington.

However, I have nothing down about the 26? Was it a carbon copy of the 126 or did it extend to Washington?

And are you aware of any other services that ran?

Thanks.

The 42 you mentioned came later under Redby name using double deckers, which were the 42/43 with a slight variation on route, with wear buses sticking a bus in front of them using 242/243.

Yea the 26 was same route as wear buses 126 at the time but commenced from crowtree leisure centre bus stop outside central bus station, but wasn’t an even timed service.

There were loads of services, but can’t remember them all, those were the days when you get to a bus stop and you literally can go anywhere than now with no competition left and all for profit and charge what there like and make you go when and where you go, some other members might be able to remember alot more of wearside bus company [emoji106]
