Can’t understand why gne still have these.  They were essentially mothballed when covid hit and have been used as taxis and shuttles with a few odd exceptions since.  The diesel Yutongs seemed to have replaced them.  Surely they still have a good resale value with the spec they have, and are relatively low mileage, assuming the nox/Adblu issues ever got properly fixed.

At some point, if the NHS ask for them back, they will need to go back on the Hopper shuttle.

I would suspect that the NHS will want the intended buses back soon - Arriva might have already returned to Pulsar operation on the 47?

So was it the NHS that temporarily specified larger buses and never changed it back, or did GNE just decide to do it?

I'm guessing the former given the Sprinters probably use considerably less fuel than a proper bus.

The former. Arriva also ‘upgraded’ the 47 to double-deck.
